Were the motivations of those humans who killed Dran ever revealed cause I'm a little confused here? If Dran was the strongest being in the universe, then why would the human even think about killing him?

Have not read it yet but if I was going to guess is because Dran, being the strongest dragon, is a possible threat to humans and everyone in the world (If Dran felt like destroying everything, instead of boredom, all will cease to existl) so without him they would feel safer. Annihilate before it becomes a threat.

@casgoldsmith I think that they did, but Dran have no intention of holding a grudge and one way or another I think he will put everything into place or peace if you will.

According to the current yggdrasil his death is necessary for laying foundation for the present world. And in his previous life Dran meet first gen of yggdrasil when she is still young.
The present generation is the X-th generation yggdrasil[it's already veryX9 long time since Dran dies](need confirmation since i'm skimming this)

And of course they still regretting it. After all, he help them countless time, the strongest allies and the best of friends. To be kill by your own comrades while he hold no grudge toward you would sure as hell make you regret. At least it would make me regret.

Spoiler for Heroes: The Heroes goes to the extend of using the sword that Dran forge, and enchant it with spell that drain his life force and magical energy and attempt to destroy his soul. All of these knowledge are impossible for human to attain. The knowledge of how to kill a dragon, the strongest dragon, will force the dragon race to go to war in order to raze what can destroy their race. Can you imagine it? killing Dran as a human? it a joke to the Dragons, but it won't be so if it actually true. War will break out starting with the dragon faction, and then domino effects... __________________
