Best way to start learning is to look up tutorials on the web to get some basics. Then check out some manga and other art samples and try your hand at practicing. It does help if you've had some hand in art already (to understand anatomy and perspective), but not required.

I like the sig, inno. Very poetic.

was it shallow without
undertones?

saturation; intensity
cryptic to the eye?

oh how they would pick on

and ambiguity was crude;

Also, in case anyone was wondering, since I used someone else's art to create my signature... The artist, who happens to be one of my favourite artists, for the picture is Enhance Heart, and, the character drawn is Youmu Konpaku, who happens to be one of my favourite characters from Touhou at the moment. =)

I used to write quite a bit when I was younger and under some stress. Writing was an outlet for all that emotion. It's rather amateur stuff I think, looking back on it most of it seems kind of silly now. But since you shared, I think it's fair to share one of mine as well.

I read that story about the rock. Quite an interesting read to begin with. Criticism, if you want, is in the spoiler.

One thing that caught my attention was

"They writes about me, you know;

And certainly I can't die...

I'm immortal."

Are you trying for the gollum effect here? If not, you probably want to take the "s" off of "writes", or change "They" to "He/She/it".

A general thing about the whole story is that it seems to throw us right in, rather than letting the reader experience the idiocy of the boy one step at a time. Like, maybe you could start the story with the boy in the hospital, talking to a magic rock, instead of narrating how he got to be at that place to begin with? Because at this part:

"I can't help you, my arm is fractured," he replied, "besides, you are the evidence that Max threw the rock at me. I can't take you out."

Jimmy smiled, and the rock frowned.

"Max didn't throw me at you. You were the one who tripped over me and broke three of your limbs, dislodged your spine, and you would have fallen over the edge of death if I hadn't saved you." The rock was a little indignant. "In fact, Max was 3 kilometers away from us at that time, smoking opium."

I was initially confused at the start of that, as it contradicts the start of the story, which is told factually by a narrator.

Also, you probably want to talk about how the mercury seeped into his bloodstream. Was it osmosis, or did the glass cut his skin?

And last, you mention the author a few times in this story. As an amateur work, it works for a few laughs. But if you want to make it something more, the author is someone who you really never want to mention, as it makes it seem really amateurish/fan-fiction like. In a normal well written comedy, I see at most 1 reference to the author every 500 pages.

There may be things in this story I don't know about, and if so, I apologize. Just cross out the stuff that I said related to that part.

Now, to get back to my own story... Procrastination is fun! ^_^

Sure, I don't mind. Bear in thought however that the poem was written over a decade ago (eesh it's been that long!? ) and it's the product of a much younger person.

Who knows, I may be inspired to drum up some new material.
