That's the best part for me. What Flamme taught Frieren, now Frieren is passing it down to Fern.

Maybe Fern will eventually become the next human arch-mage.

Wanna bet that Frieren did the most damage to the Demon King?

They did hide their magic power.

Flamme said that the three demons she later killed hid their power intentionally to ambush them. It's just that once the demons recognized she was also a mage, they changed their minds and opted for a direct confrontation.

What Flamme is saying is that the demons are fine being deceitful if they're not fighting against another mage.

It looks like there's a sort of unspoken code between mages. They're supposed to fight directly without hiding their powers.

I don't think it's so much of a code as they just expect their magic to be capable of handling both offense and defense against other magic (and to be fair, it does).

If they're fighting against physical attackers then they can't always defend themselves, so they have no choice but to play dirty.

No, it's specifically about pride. "I want to prove I'm a better magician and can win with pure magic, without trickery." That doesn't apply to fights against non-magicians.

That's not contradicting what I'm saying. They genuinely believe their magic works against other magic offensively and defensively, therefore there is no need to play dirty against mages.

If that was all Flamme wouldn't call her tactics cowardly. She also said she and Frieren are the only ones using such heretical tactics. That suggests it's indeed a sort of code among mages.

Yeah, I think its a common practice among mages in this world particularly. I can especially see why a Demon would be offended given how much practice they put into their magic and the pride they take in it. There's not really a practical reason to hold back your mana unless you're specifically trying to get the drop on something that can sense mana or be stealthy, much less once a fight is going, unless you're trying to be sneaky about it.

It is basically open carry vs concealed carry. With open carry everyone knows what mana levels the others got and it comes down to technique, experience and spells used or in the case of Lügner vs Fern speed. With suppressing their mana aura Frieren and Fern trick everyone into thinking they are much weaker than they truly are thus getting careless and cocky, making mistakes or simply not reacting fast enough when it is too late.

They're only deceiving demons, though, so even though breaking a rule it's okay in this case. The demons are monsters in this manga. You don't need to care about them.

Yep, Frieren is completely merciless.

Also, more of an explanation on why demons don't hide their mana.

Another loli bites the dust! Clearly, Aura was no match for Frieren. I liked the society explanation of elites for demons to have to show off their power all the time like humans do with wealth and status. Very nice and logical reason to do so when your society is based on Mana.

Maybe, but this one was clearly suicide, even if assisted one

Yeah, in this case it's perfectly fine because it's basically assisted suicide.

The new chapter was great! Frieren looked so beautiful and dignified in her praying pose! I hope all those color pages mean this will sell really well in Japan. Anyone knows if the first volume is out already and by how much it sold so far?

Loved Stark and the Axer joke made twice. Same with him being carried through the parade like a wet towel or dying in the snow, lol. XD

Now Frieren needs a new mage certification because they change so "frequently". How can 50 years be yesterday, man? Really liked her nostalgic look remembering Himmel bawling his eyes out. Frieren is just the cutest loli baba ever! <3 <3 <3

Also is that a MALE ELF I SEE IN THE PREVIEW??? oO
And Frieren in an apron?! Holy moly I want next week's chapter now!
