Her "condition" doesn't seem to limit her though. She can hit you or even get knocked unconscious, so if you didn't know you'd just assume she was a "normal" girl. As for their relationship, I find it more disturbing than touching. She's very knowing, in an unhealthy sort of way for a girl of her age. That said, I can't remember if we've been told how long she's been wandering around, so she could be older than she looks.

It's probably a Japanese pop culture reference, but Google isn't being very helpful, and unfortunately there don't seem to be any translator's notes on Mandoric's blog... I assume whoever they are, they have trouble saying names.

That just made me think of something... When we say someone is 20 years old we don't just mean they've been around for 20 years but we also assume the life experiences and emotional maturity normal to that age.
Hachikuji certainly has not had any of the normal adolescent and young adult life experiences of a true 20 year old. She acts in a way consistent with the emotional maturity of a grade schooler. Moreover I don't think we can even assume that she's had 10 years worth of memories as a lost snail spirit. The way Hachikuji could not articulate her dilemma to Araragi-kun, and the way Senjougahara-san had no memories of her mother both suggest that in the world of Bakemonogatari the minds of spirits and their victims are altered, constrained, and distorted just as much as the bodies and physical space. I wonder how much of Araragi's psychological ability to absorb 'damage' is actually a product of his lingering vampiric regenerative ability.
