Everything was going fine, till last kill on part 1 of E-5H where my ships suddenly missing way more often and getting taiha'd way more often.

FCF doesn't even help because I get routed off boss node..... Is this some kind of bad streak? Ugh

It might be better to try it on medium or easy then.
I probably got way more levelled ships than you do and stll did it on medium.

The only reward is having done it on hard anyhow since e2s rewards really aren't that thrilling and e2 is comparabnly annoying on hard. - Heck its even still annoying on medium compared to the rest of the event maps.

You really shouldn't measure your fleet on whether it managed to chirp the Boss HP doown, but on whether it did so by managing to A or S rank the node.

Is it F26 or F28?

For F26 you need to clear F21, F24 and B53.
For F28 you need to clear F22 and A61.

I've been getting A on the boss node.

Event done. Just in E-5 spent about 150+ buckets into failed LD attempts.

Drops weren't too bad but not too good either:

-A dupe Suzuya (to make into a CVL)
-Kunashiri, Shimushu and Etorofu
-Dupe Soryuu
-Asagumo
-Okinami

Now to blow all the remaining resources into celebratory bisko-LSC.

Is there like ANYTHING you can do about node B? I'm having a 70% retreat rate from that shit sub node....

It's getting really annoying.

EDIT: Also, is it me or does Abe no Seimei Hime loves to CI ships with TCI setups? My Hatsushimo is 100% getting sniped.....

While I think the stage is doable without having to use a sub, having a sub armed with a Tank and seaplane fighter does wonders, as the sub can still hit Landing Hime with 70+ damage even when in taiha, even in night battle. However you WILL be forced to punch a hole in whoever sub you choose (I chose Shioi) as you need her to have damecon to survive the gauntlet of 3 nodes with elite D Ds everywhere.

Too bad no real drop of consequence. Oh well. On to E-5 hard!

Didn't use Damecon and had no problem with the DDs since I jusr blasted them away with airpower. Only the first-strike capable CVL was a tad annoying

A and A isn't the same.
You can get an A for killing 4/6 mobs and you can get an A for killing 4/6 while one of them was the boss.
And even then the final phase is sometimes substancially more difficult as, for some odd reason, they gain armor and sometimes even fighter power.

I've hit a wall because I can't even LBAS to E5 boss node because the range needed is higher than what my meager planes can reach (6 with the Ryuusei)... is this easy mode even supposed to be doable by beginners...

LBA range can be extended with recon planes and flyuing boats. Saiun or even Zero seaplane is enough to push the range from 6 to 7.

This is mostly why I dislike the naming conventions for the difficulty. 丙, 乙 and 甲 don't mean Easy, Medium, Hard by any means and it is mostly about the difficulty ramping compared to each other. Also, events are not always meant to be cleared by beginners. The developpers often suggest beginners to do their best on the first half of a given events.

Regarding how to deal with the range, you can craft the T96 LBA planes or get 1 T1 through a quest. Alternatively, you can put an observation plane to increase the range by 1 if your shortest range is 6.

So how does everyone deal with node B here? What formation other than ASW formation do people use?

I seem to retreat far more often than others I'm beginning to question is it just horrible RNG or what.

I'm so damn tempted to punch holes in everyone and give them bulges.

You don't need the damecon whatseoever. You can just use jets and/or pick a submarine whose HP isn't a multiple of 12.

That node and the wo kai node are the main reasons I just gave up on Suijou and went with Kidou.
And frankly, I never felt it had any issue in term of firepower except "maybe" during last dance.
