Isn't every sport just a repetition of a means to an objective?

Despite that, people still enjoy watching and playing sports because they involve more than just the goal and the means.

Well, I.S.A. aint that huge, and even at low altitude the I.S. can go supersonic. Assuming the average combat speed of such altitude are 450 mps, and each circle of I.S.A. are 7.85 km, we have 17.5 second per lap on average....

I would agree with the fact that the IS seem to be built for mainly fights/wars/battles.

Also, why is the event called Cannonball Fast, seeing as it's just a race with mechs? Not like in involved any tossing of cannonballs or anything along that line, did it?

Ichika is too indifferent to care (like in Canon), while Dan is pretty much the poster boy of genre savvy. Bringing up men's inferiority, moreso rubbing it in, kinda irked this version of Ichika though

In case of Ichika, it's illogical to put the phrase "Female are superior" because he's an I.S. pilot himself, and has personal unit to boot.

He tend to lash it out when someone rubbed it on him though, Cecilia, Rin as well as the woman in clothing shop being prime example.

Dan's case is more unique, he is pretty normal guy, and kinda steel-balled in that regard.

However he often avoid argument unless necessary, so even if the girls rub it on him, he just laugh it of in a mock defeat, made them even more annoyed in process.

@ Demi - A normalized character is near impossible to use. Better an odd character than having some ridiculous circumstances forcing this normal guy to get involved in an abnormal story.

Show that they have a normal everyday life other than crazy mishaps, adrenaline pumping struggles for survival and/or heart-wrenching drama.

Give them something more of a slice of life moment than every single second is BOOM and BANG for them. Kind of humanizing without "the morality pet"
