IS doesn't remind me much of vandread. Maybe because the society their is girls vs boys but in IS it's girls dominates boys theme.

Yes but Negi is the teacher, not a student, plus even if it's a girl school, there are still other male teachers.

Anyway it's a minor thing, I just figure there are other more accurate analogies to use or something...

To me as long as the character is doing it for a good reason, other then "It's the "righteous" heroic thing to do!1! Who cares about my personal safety!?!", I'm OK with it.
Oh lets hope that our male lead doesn't actually go and do things for that reason

Ichika just helps/protects who he wants to protects. More like his love ones and friends. He is no hero unlike some certain someone who protects people because its his happiness.

Now that there are people asking some questions about IS and stuff regarding it, I could do another post regarding technical terms and information about the setting in IS.

It might help with a basic understanding of IS and it would also answer some of the questions(such as "How does the IS defend its pilot with just a few scanty armor plates?")

It's basically a refined version of what I wrote back at page 7, but I rewrote it to contain as minimal spoiler element as possible (hopefully none at all)

The problem is that even mentioning some terms could be considered as spoiler for some people who are sensitive about the issue.

Well, with the amount of the writting, I'd have to put them under spoiler button anyway.(otherwise that single post would eat up most of a page...)

Also, it would become a kind of redundant post since similar contents are already posted in this forum.
(although I corrected some errors and refined overall contents)

So, I'm saying this to see the reaction before deciding whether to post it or not.

Ichika is actually the most likable of the leads for me this season so far (Shota Kazehaya not included since that's the second season). A doofus but not stupid, has a harem but isn't a lech (the man is annoyed of all things!) and is earnest and honest but not exactly a fool. The end of the episode at least showed he isn't going to let himself be pussy whipped like other harem leaders. Either that or he's a foolhardy bastard, but hey gives room for character development.

That said, I'm guessing they're hoping the series will be hit with all the money they'll likely be burning just for the CG. Yeah, fantastic CG fights if I may say so myself. Then again, the girls are standard stock and I'm guessing they aren't going to be really more than that. They actually look like... uh... the Strike Witches girls so... uh... yeah. I also can't stand the ED but the OP is fine. Also, either you do fanservice right or don't do it at all.

Well anyway, the episode got me with a likable lead and mecha porn, so that's that. I'm likely not going to find anything deeper than a standard action harem with great visuals, but with the other shows I'm going to be watching, I think that's good enough for this show.

That's a lot of back-story. I hope that at least a portion of it gets touched upon in the anime.

Put it in the IS light novel thread in the manga subforum, otherwise the next moderator to come along will delete it.

What this fine man said. I will not go backwards in time to comb the thread for previous postings, but please remember that we don't allow source material spoilers in anime discussion threads. If you are willing to make an explanatory post, please put it in the LN thread instead. People who wish to get themselves spoiled can then ask for further clarifications in said thread. Thank you.

Is Houki waiting for something Ichika should say when they were talking in the rooftop? Well, it felt like she is waiting for something and seems a little upset about him saying the words "childhood" and "friend"

She's probably just shy seeing they hadn't met about 6 years. That or she's just being a tsundere. Anyway I hope more Ichika x Houki interaction in the future. They're funny and cute.

I bet she's just being more tsundere on the situation but maybe she also waiting for a compliment or something because it's 6 years. Usually their are lots of things to talk about on the past years. Like what happen and such. But first things first etiquette to compliment or greetings is necessary XD tsundere are really one of my mot favorite.

BAH, way to spoil the story there for us non novel readers, bud. Didn't you read the spoilers rule at all???? Go to the manga section or at least use tags.

@tsunade666, fyi I wasn't referring to you but to the previous poster responding Cyz'. Fortunately he/she deleted the spoiler post.

One thing I liked about this first episode was how clear the background chatter of the girls were.

Like usually its mumbled, or its just non-sense dialogue.

And while it is just girlish gossip in the background, to me, it helped build the whole situations rather nicely. and the whole school environment.

In my opinion, it might has to do with all those 'more than just a friend, but less than a lover' stuff...

Childhood buddies of different gender tend to fall into this category.

They get along extremely well in the past, but all that good memory is not actually about a boy and a girl stuff, but just a two kids getting along.

Houki, learning that Ichika still remembered her, (well enough to recognize her instantly) was probably expecting to hear something like 'how can I forget a girl like you?' stuff from him.

And the mentioning of 'childhood buddie' could have caused her to assume that he is not treating her as a girl.
