I don't see Blackbeard as an antagonist. And definately not the main antagonist.

He is more like a rival. He is pursuing the same goals as the main protagonist, but in a different way. Therefore he will be a hurdle to overcome.
But it's not like the world will meet some tragic fate if he succeeds. The main antagonist is clearly the world government. The oppress people everywhere, manipulate the history and try to prevent anyone from gaining additional knowledge on the truth.

Iagree Blackbeard is not the main antagonist, but he's definitely a villain rather than a rival. He uses the scummiest means possible to achieve his goal, and is Luffy's polar opposite. BB is probably the man Luffy hates the most too.

And let's not forget that while he and Luffy share the goal of becoming Pirate King, we don't know why he wants the title.

Teach really seems to be interested more in conquering and being bound by fate rather than Luffy’s thing with freedom.

All of the DF powers revealed held by the Blackbeard Pirates' top commanders thus far are the exact kind that would be immensely handy to real-life pirates in any of their criminal activities, both during the golden and silver age of piracy and that of present-day piracy. Ice, Invisibility, Warping, beyond ordinary sickness-causing, even greater superhuman strength, shapeshifting from a nine-tailed fox, and both of Blackbeard's own DF powers to name what has been revealed thus far.

But the most concerning one (and also scarier, mind) is Van Auger's Warp-Warp abilities.
Asides from the obvious part where he can warp himself and anyone to anywhere he wants, who's to say he can't do the same thing with his own bullets he fires as well? What's keeping him from being even more creative, and either warping the bullets trajectory-wise to where they'll be coming flying right at his target(s) from many different angles, or even having the fired bullet warp right smack in the middle of an unfortunate living pincushion's vital organs? And what if he does this as well with cannon balls or even explosives as small as a cherry bomb if he's feeling particularly devious or sadistic?

I still think BB is the big villain of the series because he's the antithesis of Luffy, but I guess we'll have to see what Im's deal is first. Maybe he or she is like a very old Pirate King that time forgot/erased.

If anyone has been wanting to see the SHs in Seraphim form, this artist is pretty awesome:
