Well, I enjoyed this ep too ... but interestingly I found myself enjoying it because it reminded me of a normal person in an extra-ordinary environment thinking about and concerned about normal things.
My only exposure to the Soul Eater franchise per se is the first few eps of the anime, but I wonder if what Soul Eater Not is doing is developing a more and more human background, or a more ordinary backdrop, so that people like Maka and co. (who starred in the the original source material) stand out all the more.... Or maybe not just stand out, but rather have more fleshed out world behind them. I sorta feel that this series is almost like a prologue for an alternate route to immerse a viewer in the Soul Eater world, as it were. That being said, well ... I do like the natural and simple (in the good sense of the word) character traits of Harudori, so I guess that's a pretty good bet that I would enjoy the series as a whole to begin with.

And here we have Tsugumi questioning her self-worth. Hard for her not to, I suppose, when everyone around her seems more capable than she is.
For fans of the original series, we learn Akane has a connection to the Star Clan. I'm going to have to look at someone other than Funi's subs for this one, because they didn't translate Clay's relationship chart, but the words next to each of those lines are clearly different. Now, I've seen a version of that chart linked from the TVTropes article, which I'm guessing came from the manga, but I don't know how accurate the translations on it are, but if they're anything close to being correct that thing is way more complicated than it looks. "Don't Mind!" In some ways I suppose that is rather Maka-esque advice. She doesn't worry about what she's doing with her life, after all. On the other hand I can't help but feel that if Tsugumi had caught her at a better time she might have been able to get something more helpful out of her. No, I have no idea what Meme does in her sleep. We probably don't want to know. Next week: cleaning the pool, and more Kim.

That very action-free episode worked for me. I got a better feeling of various characters, and really loved some of the interaction among the three roommates. I'm enjoying Tsugumi.
I know I have simple tastes, but I like the ClariS-like OP from Dancing Dolls. They're an interesting group of self-starters from Osaka who have a number of videos on YouTube from the park where they started performing. They have had four not especially successful singles, and now they are doing an anime OP. Search YouTube for "dancing dolls japan" to avoid many videos of the Southern University cheerleaders, also called "dancing dolls" (and pretty good themselves, in a different style).

It's because she's not "moe". I'm not sure if this was a mistranslation or what, but to me it sounded like she said she lost her cuteness by rationally discussing what makes people cute. I guess you could say she doesn't think romantically?

We learn in this episode if you are an ass man go for Anya, if you are a boob man go for Meme.
Also we learn that Akane and Clay is protective detail for Anya. Akane is putting the moves on Tsugumi. Then Clay had to make up all that nonsense affecting the progress of courtship. Akane if anything is considerate. He'll not rush Tsugumi and wants her to fall for him at her own pace. Poor Eternal Feather boys in her class are not attracted to her. Boys in Tsugumi's class are boob men looking at Meme's boobs. |

Tsugumi is totally normal, i can actualy see her pov pretty damn good, this show is what happens when a "normal" girl go to a school of warriors, every character in soul eater knows how to fight and have been doing it a long time but tsugumi was living a normal life before she became a weapon, so sure shes feeling down about not doing good at PE compared to the rest of kids.....but they are all prodigies, cut yourself some slack girl lol
