He has other male friends if I remeber right . What dont from time to time hang out with your friends after school. He cant do that while at IS academy . Even then the Weekends are 50-50 chance he can meet up with them.

Indeed, the way Ichika yearn for a guy friends is the closest thing to a common sense if you think about it. People keep saying that it's heaven and he should be grateful being surrounded by girls like that... except he is not interested in romance, and thus losing what it mean to have a normal life.

People comment on it because he's acting WAY too clingy from the get go. I can understand being relieved, I would be too in his position, but blushing at Charles, holding hands with him, and insisting they get naked and take baths together isn't the right wayto about it.

All in all, it seems like Ichika has only 2 guy friends. He mentions his "friends from middle school" are throwing him a party, but only Dan and Kazuma show up.

If i were the only guy in a school of girls i'd be very insecure, i have trouble talking to girls when other guys are around, talking to girls with no guys around i'd probably say way too many stupid things.

He did fall in love with someone. Chifuyu-nee in his memories taking baths with him apparently might lead to things he shouldn't be thinking of.

IIRC, the only other girls he was close with before entering IS academy was Houki (who he haven't seen for a long time), Rin (friend-zoned with the lunch thing), and the younger sister of this friend back in middle school who he never saw as anything else other than the friend's sister (ie, not even on the 'friend-zoned' level)

So no, chances are he had no other female friends to compare it with (Houki was a kid back when he knew her, and Rin was, well... flat

The friend's sister didn't even count as a friend, so not eligible for 'friends for comparison')
