Are the animated shorts created by blizzard? Or do they outsource it to some animation studio?

Blizzard makes them, they make all their own CGI cinematics, its why a lot of people wish they would make a feature length movie out of them

Who knows, if overwatch sales really take off, blizzard will make a full length movie out of it.

Cool, I liked that short although Alive has been my personal favorite so far. I didn't play as Soldier 76 during the Beta so definitely going to try it this week.

Not a bad little short. Seemed a little... Rushed... Though, I dunno.

Supposedly new hero was shown or hinted at in this. Bunch of folks think it was Sombra and think it was maybe the kids mother.

Blizzard have their own in-house CGI team but its not big enough to handle a full blown movie or animated series since they also have to produce CGI for other series as well. Its gonna have to be outsourced if they planned to do more than just shorts.

Honestly, I think a comic series and toys would do well after the launch since its pretty colorful and GI Joe esque in terms of appeal.

To be fair there is an answer for that problem. Just hire more people. They have a staff that can only handle this much work, because that's all the work they are doing. Outsourcing is possible, but if they wanted to do more then they'd just expand the CGI team.

There's always commercial and business issue with expanding your staff roll. I'm doubtful
Blizzard is willing to step into the animation business on their own considering even now, some CGI work was outsourced (heart of the swarm finale cgi got leaked by the outsourcing studio).

Alive has definitely been the best. Best directing, best animations, best tone, best waifus, 2nd best writing.

Any bets on how long it takes before anyone actually get to log in?

This is not news by now, every online-only game end up like that on launch day. Just because it is never worth it to hire enough server to handle the load, when the demand would drop off by at least half after 24 hours.

EDIT: 18 minutes! Impressively fast.

So it went live. Played game a bit and I like it, even bot match was fun. So since it is 2AM I am going to sleep and take a full look on the game tomorrow when I am woken up. But I did Try Genji for now and ultimate is pretty cool
