Is there anyone else thinking the body-positions of the characters in the poster look a bit odd? It looks like they are trying to reach someone while playing Twister :

Man, watching gundam trailer is so tiring because you have to stop frame by frame

From what I see in the trailer...
1. meteor rip-off (disclaimer I am sort of a uc fan also but this is too obvious)
2. Jesta sniper type??
3. What is Dijeh doing here?? Well, if nemo is good for uc 0096, then I guess Dijeh is as well (and I don't mind a hguc...)
4. I see a transform atmosphere use mobile grunt suit in space?? (or could be on Earth at night..)
5. Mineva in Zeon uniform...not really surprising as poor Zeon is currently in a state that anyone with a slight connection with Zeon's history is good to lead . But where is her bf?

You're not wrong. SEED did it first with METEOR (that two long-barrels-MA-thingy). And it wont be the first time newer UC anime took inspiration from AU. In Origin, we also saw Char played fencing in the academy, like Heero did in Wing .

Oh, don't quote me on that. There is one side who said that Amuro is a Canadian of mixed-descent (Japanese being one of them) but there are also another side that claims Amuro and his parents originated from Europe (eg. Spain).

METEOR itself is just a ripoff of the Dendrobium Orchis anyway, so don't y'all get your panties in a bunch over it.

I doubt that's Origin taking cues from Wing. Don't forget that at the end of Gundam, Amuro and Char fought each other with swords, which was referenced at the end of the Unicorn novels with Banagher and Full Frontal beating the snot out of each other with pipes.

But Dendro doesn't have two big mega-size beamy weapons that the MS arms can swing or shoot. That design cue is mostly popularized by METEOR. The design is also more elongated compared to Dendro.

In MSG, the sudden fencing duel in the climax is pretty much an impulsive thing between Char & Amuro. Amuro even managed to scarred Char's forehead despite not having any fencing training before. The "fencing in academy"-thing is definitely not a UC-thing when Wing came out with it. Sure, it's possible that Origin also got the inspiration from other anime or movies but I have no doubt in my mind that Wing has some influence in it.

They probably also took some inspiration from the HFA-78-3 Heavy Full Armor 7th Gundam.
