Well, last I checked we don't actually know what class they're re-testing for. But given the things that have been identified as weaknesses for each of these students, it seems a fair guess that it had something to do with taking basic knowledge of magic that they should have all learned by now and actually applying it to real situations. Let's call it some kind of basic magic-use class.
Also I get the impression that the teachers don't really want to fail these students. Not that they're going to cehat for them or anything, but they also probably aren't going to go out of their way to make the tests something fiendishly difficult that these kids, who clearly are having trouble just getting basic magic to work, would never be able to do.

Watched episode 4 and 5.
Things are going fast... got into a fight right away.. at least Riko admits that she got jealous. Admitting the truth fixed the friendship again. And I do wonder that would be the purpose of the bay fairy that they found. The green glow made me think that she might be the emerald or at least connected to it in some way.

Episode 6 was pretty solid. In a sense a similar kind of dilemma for Riko as last time, but still a good one. Not surprising that sibling relationship was frayed over time. Both pretty close, but once Riko hit the educational system and her issue with actually using magic came to light...it was bound to end up like that. Hard for her sister to reach out since Riko wouldn't be able to accept it. Feeling too much shame about her own abilities and falling so incredibly short of her ideal.
The curious thing though is how it all turned out with the test. Still incredibly shaky, but somehow the pendant and wand unified to help her out. So...in a sense not Riko's ability? But certainly she was chosen for some bizarre reason as evidenced by the star being drawn to her when her wand was formed along with the pendant. Makes sense why her sister gave her the pedant though. Well I suppose it doesn't matter how much of it is Riko's ability since she's not giving up that pendant any time soon.... Spoiler for Ep7:

Wow. The Sapphire forms are really nice. And the transformation really emphasized the difference between them and the other forms. A lot of beauty and grace. Where Diamond seems to be similar to a lot of “basic” Precure transformations, bestowing equal parts agility and power with a lot of high-speed dodging and striking; and Ruby is pure power where the girls focus on strength-vs-strength matches and pure, overwhelming, direct force; Sapphire… well… flows like water: when the enemy tries to hit them they just effortlessly flow around it, and move to use the enemy’s own strength against him.

Ep 07
I gotta admit that I have been kinda impressed with the effort and creativity animation wise Toei is putting into this series so far - and not only effort on "standard PreCure fare" like transformations and special attacks, but also world building and out of the standard mold settings and development. The series thus far as been very clearly and squarely identifiable as a PreCure series (to me at least) and yet at the same time is equally it's own creature. I really like the beginning it has made thus far and can only hope that the series continues along in the same line and even gets better.

Right now can really respond to a variety of threats and are bound to get more transformations as they go.

Ep 08
And yet another interesting episode ... hmm ... the world building continues, and even in unexpected ways (like the Yokubaru this time around - didn't think that aspect of things would be expanded on a teensy bit). Next week is the final test ... and from the pv material it looks like it might be unexpectedly intense. Hmm. By the way ... does anyone know off hand if the VA for Haa-chan is the same as the one used for Celine in the To Love Ru series?

...Is the new All Stars movie a musical? Because the previews in the OP for the last few weeks sure look like it. A lot of what looks like singing and dancing.
Anyway, now the girls are getting sad, presumably because the tests ending means Mirai's agreed-upon time in the magical world is coming to an end. Don't worry girls, you'll be together for a while yet. You're only on episode 8, after all!

Another nice episode. They learned another good lesson. I suppose having faith in yourself is a pretty important thing in terms of mastering a skill like that. For the sake of Riko's health, mastering her broom is a nice step . Could be another case of her overthinking things a little which made it harder for her to keep her broom under control.
Was a good challenge for the duo though in the fight. Unable to really attack or use their finishing move with how things were. Had to reach out to the Pegasus first. Could be a reason why most of the combinations so far have been of inanimate objects or plant life. Harder to control I do wonder what they will do with the plot after the next test. Maybe move the story to Mirai's world for a while? The girls might be worried, but we certainly know they are pretty early in their show still . Either Mirai is sticking around in the magic school longer or Riko will transfer over under some kind of excuse. Should be a pretty intense final test though.

Watched episode 10:
Riko goes to take vacation on human world. Hmm, and the cat riding a motorcyle yokubar has to be one of the funniest (and cute in a weird way) monster of the week I've seen. For some reason, I feel like laughing when he's riding that cycle up the building.. Oh, and when they got scratched hard... I had a sudden image that their clothes might get torn. O_O Then I remember that I'm watching precure and not Love Hina, so their clothes are safe. :3

Episode 9 was easily the strongest episode so far. The two leads so darn emotional in their own ways about potentially being separated. Riko just flying around depressed during the test while Mirai was being almost reckless in her aggressive attack.
Was a good moment of weakness though on Mirai's side. Really broken up about being apart from her friend. Is often pretty held together, so a bit of weakness is good to see. Quote:

Two elements I noticed that I haven't seen in Precure before, since I started watching with Smile.
One, these two have no "base form" that they need to start with. Other Precures transform into their base form then transform into their "power up" form for enhanced attacks. But these two can transform using any of their four Gems immediately, they don't need to start with Diamond, as has been shown in several episodes. This concept had been used in Kamen Rider from Double to Gaim, but this is the first time it's been used in Precure, I believe. Second, for the first time in five Precure series, at least, the magic kingdom wasn't already defeated at the start of the series. |
