Upon graduating middle school, Rentarou Aijou manages to confess to the girl he loves. Unfortunately, he gets rejected, making it his 100th rejection in a row. Having experienced heartbreak after heartbreak, he goes to a matchmaking shrine and prays with the hope of finally getting a girlfriend in high school. Suddenly, the god of the shrine appears, promising Rentarou that he will meet one hundred soulmates in high school.

Although skeptical at first, Rentarou quickly acknowledges the truth behind the god's words when two of his soulmates—Hakari Hanazono and Karane Inda—confess to him the very same day that they meet him. However, there was one detail that the god forgot to tell Rentarou: if any of his soulmates fails to get into a relationship with him, they will die. Now trapped in a matter of life and death, Rentarou decides to date all of his soulmates.

With a heart so big that it can be shared among one hundred girlfriends, Rentarou makes the most out of his unanticipated high school life, with the Rentarou family growing ever larger!

Dang, as far as rejections go that's pretty harsh! "I like you...but the idea of going out with you makes me sick." That's not putting it gently, lady! You killed that poor boy !

We have our protagonist Rentaro Aijo, an earnest, sincere, and hardworking young man and hopeless romantic who has been confessing and getting rejected since he was a baby. It's enough to make a man think he's doomed to forever be without love, at least until he gets a visit from the God of Love voiced by Shigeru Chiba and finds out he's got 100 soulmates to look forward to in high school. Just better deliver or Rentaro will go full Kaneki on him .

Is Friend A going to come back and turn out to be the "Trap" girlfriend or would the soulmate spark have hit by then ?

I love that the show is as self-aware as the manga, complete with all the gags and fourth-wall breaks. Also, don't think I didn't see those cameos in the opening ceremony .

It's the first day of school and Rentaro is already bumping into his first two soulmates/girlfriends! Hakari, the pink-haired scheming girlfriend with the thicc thighs voiced by Kaede Hondo! Karane, the orange-haried classic tsundere girlfriend voiced by Miyu Tomita! And one look at Rentaro and they're already head-over-heels to the point of faking a leg injury to get some tender care from Aijo-kun and hugging him tight. And this is the first day of school you lucky dog !

I love how these three are such dorks they'd spend four hours either searching for contacts or a four-leaf clover to guarantee true love .

I've never seen a girl so determined to get an indirect kiss to go through such lengths and to then get so utterly destroyed she didn't get her indirect kiss. Though no surprise Hakari is the first to confess, though Karane is able to power through her tsundere behavior to confess herself. Nice !

What's a man to do, choosing between two cute girls that anyone would love to date!? Especially when it turns out Rentaro has to actually make his soulmates happy otherwise they die. I guess we can all thank Miyazaki for this .

I'm glad Rentaro decided against dating the girls behind their backs, but if I had a nickle for every time a Harem Romcom MC had to sincerely and genuinely ask two girls to let him two-time them and actually win them over to the idea...well, I'd have two nickels. Though the best part is it's not just going to be two-timing but 100-timing as we meet more girlfriends. And we've already got three waiting in the wings this cour .

The ED is very cute and colorful showing off chibi versions girls on their own and with their Rentaro plushies and culminating in a sleepover .

What the? That was absolutely hilarious! I thought it was would be a romcom with a silly gimmick and instead I got the Gintama of romcoms with a ton of 4th wall breaking, references, and absurdity. How did I sleep on this series for so long?

Is polygamy becoming the new thing? Harem titles have existed for ages but the MC generally never decides or when he does, he just choose one girl. We have two titles this season a lone where the MC builds a real harem!

The instant I saw a clip for the first episode I was instantly sold out to watch this show as much like Rentarō making eye contact with each of his soulmates to fell in love at first sight.

But, TBH, what sold me was the precious art depicting both Hanazono and Inda making such cute faces while the camera took those front shots. Finally, the jokes resonated with me that consolidated my liking to keep looking forward to the next episode.

Now, the gist that Rentarō got rejected a hundred times to girls he had confessed throughout his life that was due to the Love Kami's fault. He got overblessed to meet one-hundred soulmates until high school. Honestly, this kid outdid Slam Dunk's Hanamichi Sakuragi at getting rejected double the quantity, but he got overcompensated later beginning day one of his high school years.

Jokes humorous and clean.
The first two girlfiends kawaii as cute making the silly jokes and misunderstandings all that much funny and laughable.
The boy himself is straightforwardly honest and chooses to date both Hanazono and Inda refusing to be sneaky like, for example, dating one girl at the expense of the other girl.

Let us witness how this polaymorous harem expands to be made of the eponymous 100 girlfriends that the MC is going to heroically date them all in order to both save their lives and win their hearts at the same time.
