It should have been a Sheryl end. But besides that, it was really good, and everybody else lived. So it´s open to sequels.

But, wow, way to drop the ball on ending the romance, Kawamori.

look i shipped for sheryl, but honestly the ending was pretty freaking epic regardles of the shipping outcome. for all intents and purposes the shipping war was OVER come ep 21/22, even if the end had no resolution, sheryl won for a brief period and to the first victor go the spoils.

Well, as people noted, the ending of their romance is open so I think it is up to fan's interpretation.

<sigh> at least I got the Alto survives theory right. Damn, was so into this series for the mecha action which I did get but wow.... still feels empty without a triangle resolution.

Although the triangle was left open-ended, I was still pretty satisfied with the ending. It leaves room for future development between Alto, Sheryl and Ranka. I'm sure that Kawamori, being the master troll that he is, was a bit more creative in selecting the word "Frontier" as the serie's title. Like Sheryl and Ranka said in unison at the end, this is only just a beginning.

Plot-wise, nothing was particularly definitive, with the exception of the human-Vajra connection. Grace could still be out there somewhere with her accomplices planning their next move. Our train-loving Zentran still hasn't found who he's looking for. If anything, maybe the continuation will even involve Macross 11 and Earth.

Being optimistic, I look forward to new adventures from the Frontier universe. The ride's not over yet

I can imagine Kawamori is having his last laugh while frothing, angry fans demanding a resolution. Then he have proof that people wanted more and investors give him more money to make sequel.
