Famous-strong main characters

Are there any strong and famous main characters? Someone like Kenshin from Rurouni Kenshin. He's strong and famous.

Yes, really strong.

And, I think Samurai Deeper Kyo is similar to Kenshin.

Listed the strong ones:
There's Naruto, Goku..., Haruhi (probably counted as she's powerful enough to say: "You're dead." and mean it), Yuki (counted since she can also fight), let's see.... Nanoha... (there are quite others plenty to list plus they are also qualified)

Luffy from One Piece.

He should be one of the first ones mentioned in a thread like this. D=

While Lufy starts strong, he is no where near as strong as Kenshin was in his respective universe (specifically, Kenshin was already at the top, whereas Luffy is clearly at the "bottom" of the One Piece universe).

That being said:

Angel Heart
Gintama
Heroic Age
Chrome Shelled Regios

May we give the ladies their due?

And, who better to start with than the Lady Eboshi from Mononoke Hime. She's known far and wide in her world for both her devotion to "progress" and her humanitarian acts. Nor is there any question about her strength of character, nuanced though it may be.

Balsa from Seirei no Moribito probably isn't famous enough, though it's clear she is widely known within her profession. The same could probably be said for characters with roots in the underworld like Black Lagoon's Revy and Balalaika or Kure-nai's Juuzawa Benika. I place Balalaika among the strongest, and most threatening, characters I've seen in anime. Benika lets her heart lead her astray from time to time; Balalaika turned hers off as a young woman.

I'll also nominate Nakajima Youko from Twelve Kingdoms. She mutates from a weak nobody into a powerful figure known throughout her world.

^Hey, I recommended Angel Heart didn't I? Li Xiang Ying isn't just a strong woman, she is actually the strong women....

Strong seconds for Seirei no Moribito and Black Lagoon (sorry, I disagree on Twelve Kingdoms and partially on Kure-nai (yeah Benika has a history, but she isn't really a main character, more like the support to the main character...though, I would agree that it is debatable).

I noticed that in your list and mentally applauded you for your broad-mindedness. Belated kudos, then.

Actually I took the devious rhetorical strategem of suggesting that we might consider Balsa, Revy, Balalaika, and Benika, while at the same time dismissing them. I don't think they'd qualify in the "famous" category.

Youko certainly qualifies as famous by the end of the story, though I can understand you may have misgivings about her on the strength dimension. She does have a hinman, after all.

^One of the great joys of watching (experiencing) Twelve Kingdoms, is the slow, but realistic, development of Youko.

That being said, lol, I can't believe I forgot Lina Inverse from Slayers...

Samurai Deeper Kyo, there is Kyo...
Trigun with Vash the stampede.
Get Backers with Mido Ban.
Prince Of Tennis with Ryoma Echizen.
Full Metal Alchemist with Edward Elric.

12 kingdom is an awesome anime but Yoko isn't really famous/strong at the begining. But her evolution is really interesting and she became a charismatic character.

Who's stronger? Train or Kyo (Kyoshiro)? I know I shouldn't compare series but I want to start a series where the main lead is very strong so I'm starting with the one that's stronger.

Train and Kyo are good too... It's difficult to compare. But in my opinion, I would chose Kyo.

Euh man... you want to watch SDK in anime? Don't! The anime is really bad in my opinion, go read the manga.

Anime did weird things with monsters...

But the opening is really cool .

I think that goes the same for Black Cat as well. The manga was a lot better in my opinion.
