In the universe of this series, the various beings from the mythos are actually different species rather than individuals. That is why Nyaruko is called a Nyarlathotepian at some points.

Okay, so Episode 2 clearly alluded to The Big O.

They mentioned a negotiator in the City of Amnesia and said "Ye not guilty."

I figured that one of the voice actors had also worked on The Big O.

I checked the voice actors but couldn't see any connection to The Big O.

Were they just making the joke because they enjoyed that show?

Possibly?

Those jokes are the central point of the show.

My favorite this time was the un-holy hand grenade.

We're dealing with something in the vein of Hayate (the first season) here. References fly fast and loose, and it's up to you to keep up.

Thanks so much for the resulting mental image of Mahiro showing the camera a photo of Nyaruko while saying, "This is my Nyaruko. There are many like her, but this one is mine..."

Extra credit if Kuuko makes any use of one-liners associated with the following units from certain RTS titles:
  • Black Hand (C&C3);
  • Firebats (Starcraft);
  • flame tanks (C&C: Generals; Emperor: Battle for Dune)

Stylish if I say so myself. XD

Gotta love the humor on this anime. Not nearly as entertaining as the first episode, but it was still good nonetheless. I've heard there's so much references in episode two, but I only managed to get four of them: Kamen Rider, Gundam, Star Wars, and Scryed.

"If I don't hurry back, they might take Mahiro-san's virginity before I do." щ(゚Д゚щ)

Ahahaha. That line cracked me up so much.

But seriously, aprons won't have the effect you imagine since they are made for cooking -> hydrophobic, et.al

If you like the suffocating atmosphere and the path to inevitable destruction found in both Madoka Magica and Fate/Zero, you would love Saya no Uta.

but I don't know you that well though....

I point of fact, I hate those things about the series you mentioned, which is why I refused to finish watching either of them. Well, I refused to even start Fate/Zero, because I had a good idea how it would go.

The problem is that this being 4chan, images tends to disappear fast.

Found the thread anyway. Save it before it disappears

EDIT: and yes, he kinda does write like that, with more purple prose. Keep in mind that he was writing in a time when he was paid by the word count, or was it the page count or maybe I got the wrong time period I forgot, so he had to pad it up his writing.
