Suits designs:
http://mantan-web.jp/2013/07/07/2013...00023000c.html Not really even remotely similar to the original, but for me it's not a problem at all. |

Of course, CGI.
Well, that was going to happen either way, consistently drawing designs like that would be too expensive for a show like this, unfortunately. Maybe we'll get a scenes that aren't CGI like we did for [C], or maybe the action won't even be that important... |

If they wanted a departure from the Gatchaman aesthetic, they're doing it very, very well, as far as departing anyway The aesthetic change alone I have no problem with though, but the actual designs themselves don't jive with me all that well

The suits are a bit gaudy for me scratch that, the more I look at them the more gaudy they are. But otherwise they're OK. They should've gotten the guy who designed the suits in Sacred Seven, those were awesome.
The show itself looks pretty awesome. Last edited by kuromitsu; 2013-07-07 at 13:27. |

I like the way the show looks. Not a huge fan of the actual suit designs, but I'm definitely a fan of the overall visual design - which the suits do fit well into. On the own the suits definitely look like over-busy mecha suits which stand out too much, but in the context of the screens, I think everything looks really cool. Love the colors.

I'm liking the designs in the animation itself although they're still pretty... weird. The OP is really cool, I'd better keep my expectations not too high to avoid disappointment but damn it's complicated to not be hyped.

Oh man, those suits look like the bastard children of Tiger and Bunny and Virtual-On. And those two series had specific reasons to have such gaudy and colorful designs, but not here. It's like the exact opposite of the character designs, which are sharp, clean, and stylish. I really would have preferred some revamped birdsuits like the new live-action movie.
I hope we get a more high-quality version of that OP later, though I'm not liking the song. |
