BLAME! from Tsutomu Nihei gets animated film (gekijouban anime).



Synopsis :

Killy is a man of few words. He wanders, seemingly endlessly, through a lonely, gargantuan labyrinth of concrete and steel, fighting off cyborgs and other futuristic nightmares, searching only for something called Net Terminal Genes. And he has a very powerful gun, which he uses without hesitation whenever anything resembling danger rears its ugly head.

Who is this quiet, violent, determined man and what are these Genes he seeks? The small communities he finds tucked into the crevices of this towering, dystopic ruin hardly give him leads on his treasure, driving him to find larger enclaves of civilization where people can reveal more about the world he lives in and the quarry he seeks.

I hope it's as good as the short in Sidonia even though i know they won't put the same budget into a full movie.

Interesting. I wonder what kind of animation techniques they’ll use to animate Blame. I’ve read the manga years ago and have the copy deep in my shelf. I think it needs a director and artists with strong vision to animate/visualize the world in the manga.

Is there any particular reason for this? Blame! is afterall an older manga which was finished years ago.

Hm, which part will be animated? Even if Blame! is rather image heavy, 10 volumes are a lot for a movie.

It's probably going to be a CGI movie from Polygon Picture.

It was a weird manga, decent character, decent plot, absolutely hate the ending. But it still gave a very deep impression on me despite i only read the whole thing once... like 10 years ago?

Like I will read the tittle and immediately could recall it right away. Unlike hundred of other manga that I have read since then.

There is a chance that we get a TV anime too since Polygon Pictures tend to make both movies and a TV series. (Ajin was first announced as an anime film trilogy before the TV anime)

I don't think they can adapt all the volumes into a one film anyway, hope for a set of 2 or 3 in the future !

Wait, they will adapt Blame! but the author will come up with an original story for the movie? That scenario sounds similar to the Akira movie long ago. Here's hoping the result will be as good or even better.

I could've sworn I've seen some sort of Blame! animation a loooong time ago (i didn't even watch sidonia so I didn't know of the trailer there), but apparently this is the anime debut? What did I watch then?

I'm thinking that because they're talking about an "all-new story" in the picture above from the official website. There is a chance that it might just be a restructuring of the manga's story by the author in order to better fit the movie.
