Questions about armor:

1) Is there a noticeable difference when it comes to sneaking between light and heavy? I know about the noise and speed but is the difference really that drastic?

2) Is there any benefit to use a mix of light and heavy? Or is that better to just pick one and stick with it?

1) I remember in Oblivion it was a hell of a lot easier to sneak with light armour or just clothing. Can't vouch for Skyrim but I imagine it'd follow a similar principle.

2) It's best to stick to just one sort. Especially when you get high up in the Heavy Armour perks where on several occasions wearing full sets of heavy armour grant you increased protection and best of all, no weight!

Whiterun it is. I totally have no idea why I called it Whitemane.

Sleeping gives you rested XP bonus. If it's your own bed, that's a 10% buff to skill increase for as many hours as you slept. I'm not going to pass on that.

Depends what do you play. If you're a thief-like , better take light armor to increase your stealth.

Is there some sort of safe box to store items? I still at the beginning of the game being lvl 7
Well , i dropped some items at the first village in a merchant house and there are still there , same for the castle , so i think it's fine to drop it anywhere you want (in a house dunno for outside)

Anyway , i spend some times to play stealth & steal , and then reach lv 8 to 18 wow.
The Stealth attack x15 = instant death , or for guard very low hp , 1 more hit K.O.

Spoiler for .:

Not a big fan of the brown, but looks kinda cool. Pity I'm not playing a rogue... really. I wants me some glass, or dragonscale armour.

been slowing outfitting Lydia into Dwarf armour.

Amusingly I've been running around with Lydia and Brener(? The old Blades dude), some reason you can have both at once. Wewt, party... did Darklight Tower were you get ANOTHER person to follow you around (inside the tower), between that and the two flame Atronarchs me and the old guy were summoning we had the place packed out - The Hag's staff reward is sweet. Either way, old dude as ranged rapeage (with two Atronarchs, pew pew machine gun fireballs), and Lydia in there getting smacked in the face. good times. Eventually I'll take the old dude back and get the next stage of the quest, I'm just taking him on the scenic route for our escort to totally throw off the Thalmor assassins.

Oh yeah, Faldar's Tooth, googly moogly is there loads of coin sitting around in there.

Trying to make a hybrid sword wielder / lightning magician, is heavy armor advisable for casting since I won't have the defensive capabilities of a pure melee fighter?

Lol, I'm trying to do the same thing, except I'm also tossing in the element of stealth to try to get a jump on my enemies.

I wonder if this is the classic case of biting of more than you can chew

Eh... I've hit level 5 now wielding a long sword on my right and lightning magic on my left, with steel plates all around, and I'm doing well enough. I'm planning to modify and enchant my armor with magika buffs to compensate. Should be enough I hope.

As it stands I've only put points in single-weapon and Destruction, and eventually on enchanting and item creation skills. I'll put skills on a specific armor type once I've made my choice.

Any suggestions would be nice for a Magic Knight full offense type.

Destruction and any armor and weapons you come across should be more then enough. You might want to also put some points into restoration, since pure offensive will probably be hard on the purse when dragon hunting.

Alternatively you could try conjuration so you could summon fodder help and have whatever poor[ minion help in the DPS department as well as acting decoy.

I've never played a full offense type before. Despite my choice of username, I'm vastly more about attrition.

How you guys finding the difficulty and so on? Was lookin at another forum and there were some (outlandish imo) claims that they had almost "finished" the game in 10hrs (apparently 2hnd, plus perks etc = total hax. 2 chances to proc instant kill finishers supposedly, sounds boring). Currently in the main quest I'm up to 'escorting Brenas (old dude in Riften) to Riverwood', have become a werewolf via the companions and done a few quests againts the Silver guys and am up to the part where you meet Marven for the Theives guild. There are a few other random quests and adventures in there where I've just harried off into a ruin somewhere, or helped someone with something but all of that has taken me something like... 25hrs.

I think I've barely scratched the surface of the game, well I do have this 650 page compendium to use as a reference at times - recipes and the like mostly, but dungeon and bestiary references have proved valuable. Don't really need them but it comes in handy for some secrets and knowing the recommended levels of dungeons (going to finish the game with only light use of the book, subsequent play throughs will be a little more competionist). There was something amusing about telling my friend who was in Labyrinthina at level 13 doing a mage quest for a staff that the recommended level for the place is 24 - "So I get to the first room, half a dozen skeleton mages and, oh, a bone dragon. shit." Morokei (Dragon Priest) beat the ever loving snot out of him (apparently he has a zone wide shout that drains magicka periodically which made things interesting for him being a pure mage), although he did kill him eventually with judicious use of terrain, fireball ("to the face!") and fleeing like a girl. But yeah, there is something awesome about being able to just trundle around in the wilds finding stuff naturally and not worrying how close to the end of the game you are.

Also, how you guys finding different styles of play? I'm going 'spell blade' myself. I find it sufficient, but I feel as though I'm a bit slow on the developing side - skill point wise. Which leads me to feeling a little lost when spending perk points. I've tried to focus on 1 hand weapons, light armour, and destruction, but I don't seem to generate points fast enough. Which leads to me spending points elsewhere; conjuration (for the lol Atronach spam) and abjuration. I'm starting to put a couple points into blacksmithing so I can make dragonscale stuff - but that'll take ages, and I dislike mining. What do you guys find useful?

About a half dozen of my friends got the game, we've all shared information about what we've done and the awesome thing is no two of us have done the same thing, we've all more or less progressed differently. Hearing about what the others have done is really interesting and the accounts of battles fought (ie friend in Labyrinthina) are really fun. Which is a huge positive to the game for me.

Oh yeah.. Wispmothers... what. the. fk. That shit came outta left field and pimp slapped me. I had to use my friends strategy "Bravely run the hell away" - mostly cause I had to go elsewhere, did uncover a dwarf ruin though

Running with The Companions. He's also got his sights on Aela the Huntress as his future wife, but I wonder if he'll get a sword through his stomach instead.

Not really. I wanted to be a '' spellblade '' but most enemies were far more easier with longbow so I used that as well. That combined with sneak made it the best weapon in dungeons with a lot of enemies. My highest skills now are Destruction, Restoration, Archery and Sneak. 1H combat is following behind but I often use Bound Sword but I'm not sure if that increases 1H or Conjuration.

What's annoying is that Dragons are not as epic as they should be. The music with them is epic and all but ... they're just way too easy. Some boss class enemies in dungeons give me MUCH more trouble than these overgrown flying lizards ;<

Ps. Is it that hard to use spoilers people? Yes, you should use spoilers in games, especially in games like this. If you're going to talk about the MQ or some other specific quest, and what you have done /at which point you are, use the damn spoiler tags. Not everyone have done those quests so you're essentially ruining the experience. At least the other forum I browse at least realizes this <.<

Someone can tell me how merchants can see if your items are stolen.......

I reached 100 to steal. I stole female & male's guard armor & weapons in Faillase , that was funny to see "naked" guards wandering around

I don't think it's outlandish at all. The Elder Scrolls (heck, Bethesda as a whole), games are not known for their deep, long, main quests. The main quest is not why you play these games, but if for some reason that's all you did, I don't think 10 hours is beyond belief. It took less than that to do the Oblivion main quest.

Now, I can't say for sure on the Skyrim main quest, since I haven't touched the main quest after it unlocked the dragons attacking (and only because I heard dragons don't start attacking, thus no dragon souls, until you do...otherwise I wouldn't have touched the MQ at all after Helgen), so maybe Bethesda has gone against type and put in something epic and long, but I don't think that'd be a safe bet based on their track record. Just to be clear, the main quest is not why I play their games. So I have no issue with the possibility that the main quest is anemic.

It's Old God's Armor, and it's pretty sweet in the enchantments side of things, seeing how early/easy it is to get if one was so inclined. Eventually, when I make a new character, I think i'll try out melee stealth as that looks to be the most difficult thing to play, and this armor is going to be the first thing I make a beeline for after leaving Helgen.

The reason I've been in Steel for almost 20 levels now is because I can't stand the look of Dwarven. Well, the torso piece mainly. The gauntlets are actually pretty awesome. Hopefully I'm close to whatever comes after Dwarven. Though some kind of non-standard Heavy Armor would be cool too, but I haven't had any quests reward such a thing yet.

Luckily, the Heavy Armor perks makes my AC sky high even in Steel. Perked 2-h damage is also ridiculous compared to 1-h, so even 'boss' type mobs don't live long enough to hit me much. :/

Some mages are getting really strong lately, and are no longer the pushovers I was one-hitting for 20 levels (and, even with 75% Frost resistance pre-potion use, I'm perma snared vs them), but that's fine. I hate mages, so it just feeds my hate and makes it that much more satisfying cleaving their skull in two.

And, the normal dragons are definitely too easy. I hear there are other types of dragons, but I don't know if you have to progress in the MQ to unlock them or not. At level 22, I've yet to see them, so if I still am fighting normal ones in a few more levels, I may advance the MQ some to see if that helps.
