There we go. I don't know why you guys were so adamant he wouldn't tell her anything.

Needless to say, that was a very emotional chapter. People are clamoring for incest, but after this I think they will actually consider themselves true siblings. Pretty sure Goro saw Sarina as a little sister, and while Sarina probably had a crush on him, it'd be easy for her to see him as an older brother. She'll definitely be a big brocon though.

There's probably only one arc remaining after this one.

Ai may have had some darkness in her but she knew how to turn it off in public. If Ruby is going to act as Ai then she needed to learn how to turn her own black star eyes off too.

More like this arc will be pretty long. Unless you consider Ruby overcoming her trauma the end of the arc and not the actual movie.

It's not just because he's an adult. He has a messiah complex. A messiah complex stemming from the trauma from his childhood. That's why he became a doctor in the first place, and it's also why he always tries to shoulder everything himself.

It'd be cool if he could get some real character growth and get over all this crap, but I doubt that's ever gonna happen.

The relationship between Ruby and Aqua has been so underdeveloped that they finding out each other's identity didn't make me feel absolutely anything.

That's how bad Aka screwed up in that respect.

But it doesn't matter in this case.

What makes their "reunion" emotional is their relationship in their previous lives and what they meant to each other, and that was firmly established. If Aqua and Ruby were strangers as Ruby claimed (she was obviously just lashing out and didn't mean it), it would have still been emotional.

And although their relationship was underdeveloped, Aqua and Ruby themselves weren't. That's why it works.

And Aqua himself knows that.

He knows that he's neglected and pushed Ruby away and that nothing he could've said would've gone through to her, which is why he had to speak from the heart as Goro.

It's not just about finding out each others' identities; it's also about both of them opening up, dropping the lies and being genuine for the first time in their new lives (note that the starry eyes disappeared at the end) and finding salvation within one another.
