What the heck is that thing in the AGE-2's chest core supposed to be?

Anyway, nice to finally see a decent pic of the pirate AGE-2. I was a little worried that it would still carry the Hyper DODS Rifle, nice to see that they've replaced it with a cutlass of some sort. But that means it now lacks any form of ranged weaponry, unless those wing binders contain some form of cannons like the Clanche Custom.

That model on the page is obviously a kitbash. One of the model kit features that has always been pushed by AGE ads is the ability to kitbash models even if they never reflect anything seen in the show (like combining the AGE-1 with a Gafran before the series debuted).

This is what we know the actual Vagan Gundam looks like.

There should be some kind of range weaponry on it somewhere. Don't think they'd be that careless to leave it without any ability to fight at range. After all the AGE-2 had plenty of need for range combat at times, so probably will be some even if the suit is mostly melee. Either the wings have some firing ability or they've got a rifle concealed around the back. Nice to get a better look at the pirate AGE-2 though.

You are correct, I was remembering what casval said and I accidentally thought that what he said was part of the story when I wrote that post. That was my mistake. As I had stated in a post right before that that it was a kitbash. and yes, I saw that picture as well and commented on it on page 84.

Most probably that cutlass weapon is a GN sword type weapon

So from the latest pics over at GG, it seems that the Pirate AGE-2's lance weapon is actually the Hyper DODS rifle modified.

That would actually be pretty handy if true. Takes up less space if you can combine melee and a rifle. Besides I never had any issue with the Hyper DODS rifle since that thing thing packed a punch while not being too big.

The core is a result from disconnecting it from the AGE system. The same happened in the Asemu arc with the AGE-1. It just seems a bit more detailed. Maybe to hide the fact that it is the AGE-2 by hiding the core.

It's just an addition to the new torso. The original Gundam AGE-2's torso was recovered by the Federation; it's how Kio has the AGE Device.

I was under the impression that what they found was JUST the age device.

No, they recently came out and revealed that the Gundam AGE-2's torso was recovered and that's how they acquired the AGE Device. The Gundam wiki's entry on Memories of Sid also has a scan of Asem with a cracked helmet in the wreckage of the AGE-2.

I'm afraid they'll screw us over and have the Visidian debut in episode 34 but not the Dark Hound. You never know.

Also, those wing binders look like they can double as shields/thrusters.
