Episode 4: Bitter Orange Script: Jukki Hanada Direction/Storyboards: Yasuhiro Takemoto Animation Director: Chiyoko Ueno Episode 5: Faint Yellowish Green Light Script: Jukki Hanada Direction/Storyboards: Naoko Yamada Animation Director: Nao Naito Episode 6: Shocking Pink Script: Jukki Hanada Storyboards: Taiichi Ogawa and Tatsuya Ishihara Direction: Taiichi Ogawa Animation Director: Nobuaki Maruki Edit: the title for episode 5 is not directly a color. It's "light yellowish green" literally, but I didn't want to call it "light yellowish green light" due to redundancy.

I'll take these if you don't mind. Expect more in the next episode though. She may be a cliche-clumsy-moe but I hope she will be badass when it comes to fighting. Just my fleeting hope.
And thank you very much for the avys ^_^

The battle scene was really well animated, I love her blood sword weapon it reminds me of Deadman Wonderland. I can't wait to see the full extent of her powers though ^____^ her being the last of her clan, I'm sure we'll see amazing things. I do hope she gets into battle with that formless being that defeated spirit world warriors in 5 minutes, that would be awesome.

Ep 2 is a big jump from ep 1 I would say. The battle was animated much better than I thought and it was full of joy to watch colorful sparkles flying all over the place. However it's Mirai's character development that surprised me the most especially after that shallow introduction in ep 1. I'm really eager to know her past story and how she's gonna deal with the persistent senpai.
The side characters are interesting as well, though that gay gag is a bit bland and kinda out of place. I'd rather see Mirai stumbling everywhere she goes than seeing 2 guys doing gay joke. |

I'd say I enjoyed ep2 more than ep1. I guess it kind of helps that there's nothing as bad as the bucket scene on ep1 in this episode.
And lol 1000 yen for all that trouble. <_< Anyway so far I don't like the style they are using for the action sequences. It kinda feels off to me because somehow I feel that KyoAni is trying to insert too much elegance in it that it lessens the impact for me. I used to be a Soul Calibur enthusiast and while Xiang Hua is not my main I play her a lot and what can I say... Xiang Hua's elegance doesn't lessen the impact for me. It has elegance but you can see that it's also forceful. So far from what I've seen here in Kyoukai no Kanata the way they move their bodies in the action scenes seems off to me. It's a minor nitpick that prolly most people won't notice but for someone like me who likes good choreographed fight scenes like in Ga-rei: Zero I think this is one area KyoAni needs to improve on.

Gotta give it to KyoAni, they sure know how to make things pretty.
Unfortunately, I felt the episode itself was pretty bland...there's nothing about the characters or the story that managed to hook me so far. |
