For some reason i really like this one even if started in the same way as Asterisk, how can I say this hmm is she's more likeable as main heroine and the same goes for Ikki. That said there is something off with the faces or is just me?

OP and ED really good and the animation/designs were top tier.

Aside from there being a "tournement", this episode pretty much covered ANY resemblences between this and Asterisk there are, afterwards there are practically none. If after this people still talk about these two being the "same", then they are delusional, I can understand why people would get the impression after the first ep though.

Watched it live but missed some parts because of the laggings.

So far what I've been hearing is that first episode of Rakudai and Asterisk were similar but Rakudai did it better.

Totally agree, Rakudai was so much better than Asterisk.

I think that's the OP, but for EP 1 it was shown at the end. Will have to wait for EP 2 to see the ED.

yea, I wondered about that as well... seems to be a Japanese thing to use completely senseless/out-of-context phrases just because they "sound cool" or something. It's not the first time I saw such a thing in anime.

Just watched the raw. The people at the advance screening weren't exaggerating, it was quite good. Hopefully they will at least maintain this level of quality for the rest of the season. Some of the main cast said to look forward to Ep4, which I think we all should.
