Just finished finishing the game. That was....fun? So many vanilla.
Took 42 hours to clear the game and complete all the side quest. Approximately over 3 days to complete it. Couldnt have done it in normal times but looks like one good thing came from this whole social distancing due to coronavirus. I did hear there were people who finished the game much faster by not completing the side quest. |

Yeah, I sure did. More like Australia and Europe received the game earlier than rest of the world due to SE being concerned about possible delay in those countries because of the pandemic. So Australia released the game since 1st April in most stores instead of 10th April.

42 hours sounds good. How "open" is the game? That's been one of the major concern.
Unless I'm really lucky, I'm probably going to get my copy a week late with deliveries only being made three days a week now over here.

So how's everyone getting their copy? I usually prefer physical copies, but with most deliveries delayed or unavailable and not wanting to go out if I don't need to, I'll probably just settle for a digital copy.

Spoiler for chapters:
I don't want to spoil the content but there are several scenes and additional footage/BATTLES which was different from original. There are also some changes too. Especially the last part of the game. Also the trophy lists don't appear properly like my other games possibly to prevent other users from seeing the trophy lists before the release date. Though I could still check the trophies offline which is stored on my PS4. |

It was pretty much expected that part one was still going to have a degree of lineararity (if there is such a word ) since we are still limited to one city after all. Plus, the far superior graphics and speed result in heavier data usage than the SD graphics of the original; I suspect that even when we get to the open world in the following parts, the much more data and memory-intensive graphics will limit the Remake games from reaching the wide-open world of the original. Can you even imagine the world map displayed in the Remakes as widely and interactively as it was in the original? FFXV tried something that, but couldn’t reach it as well as the less data-intense FFVII. There’s a reason the world map has phased out of most RPGs as the graphics and data sizes got bigger and bigger.

For example, the entire world does not necessarily have to be loaded all at once. Smaller locales can be loaded in the background once you come to a certain proximity to it. It's not a good idea to use FFXV as the standard for anything, considering even character switching was implemented haphazardly and was easily improved upon in FF7R. |
