I think it might have something to do with Dr. Jeager's secret. After all it is partially here because of Erwin's info bait which basically pointed out Eren as the key to getting it. Eren loss would also weaken the military and keep them in the dark about the Titans.

The only reason anime is not consider as drama is because it has its own theme and unlike drama. I cannot say u r wrong at comparing anime to drama but there certainly is a few differences. Anime has its own elements and so is drama.

Attack on titan is not a show which fight without any reason. Basically there aren't any anime which fight without any reason. The whole dialogue in the anime explains a lot of things and letting us viewers to have understanding of what is going on. If the conversation cease to exist, even the most epic fighting scene will have no purpose and it is not enjoyable at all.

That is true, but in that case, why didn't they also target Armin or Mikasa? They can use Armin or Mikasa to identify the location, and if the fact that a key was needed after the interrogation, they can use them as a bargaining chip.

Eren's an additional incentive for the operation.

Not only does the key play a part, but also Eren's "Henshin!" specialty. Something is afoot and everyone would really want to know how exactly did Grisha Jaeger manage to artificially create a Titan using a simple serum and to see if the effect can be reproduced. But at the moment, they don't know that. They can't even be sure if the serum was just a one-time thing or Grisha stored tons of it under the basement.

They do not know, and because they do not know, Eren is the best chance the humans got in claiming more victories against the Titans, and the ones giving specific orders to FT probably want Eren because they are themselves curious about his transformation. They want Eren for his mysteries, much like how the Military Police wanted him so they could study him.

Eren knows the location of his home. Eren also holds the mysteries in his body.

A double whammy nobody would pass up, thus Mikasa and Armin are, in a way, pushed aside. That's how I see it anyway.

ah, uhm. . . how should I put this. . . the epicness of the episode has really surpassed the epicness of the scenes in manga. Yes, most of the characters have big eyes but to see those move and shift unsteadily out of fear with realistic emotions filling up the tension in the air is just effin' OHZUM! The last few minutes completed everything. You can feel yourself being dragged into their world of despair~ Goosebumps, **** swirled the string like a yoyo. Everything here is wmtjwjmtjmutjtatwp,jg-jwg,a

The drool comes from the manga. It's not an idea from the studio.

Are you serious that MuvLuvAlternative more significant dialogue? The VN is 60hrs long. Of which only around 15 are action moments. The rest is just dialogue and most of it is the kind of dialogue that Eren was given in this episode.
Even in the MLA anime most of the episodes had nothing but dialogue and people being angry at each other. I agree that the character exploration was better but that's what should be expected from a work aimed at adults.

Attack on Titan, being published on a shonen magazine, won't take its writing much further than what we have already seen.

The captain sure is taking forever to make a decision. I'm surprised he hasn't already had a plan prior to the titan coming just in case.. since he did say the forest would be a good battlefield.

I am so badly trying not to read the manga and just wait on the anime to finish. :x For some reason I think I know who the female titan is (assuming it's someone who's been seen in human-form earlier in the anime). Gah, back to waiting another whole week.

He very clearly has a plan in mind given how calm he is. Erwin and him have most likely planned everything since the beginning.

Yeah, the scariest part of all is that they obviously have the female titan exactly where they want her. This is what a successful operation looks like. I'd hate to see the failures.

Excellent episode, man this series really delivers! Epic fights, great development.

Eren's starting to get a little Shinji'ish to me though. Where's the resolve he had at the start of the series?

It's clear that Levi and the commander have a plan, and quite possibly they were expecting this. Did they suspect there were other intelligent titans? Is this why they're risking their entire corps on Eren?

Obviously the forest is a trap for intelligent titans - Levi is not surprised, but even he can't trust his own squad. I suspect the supply carts are preparing some kind of explosive or artillery based ambush.

Oh man can't wait another week!

Not sure if he's considered Shinji'ish if his reaction is the same as everyone else's. I mean resolve to do what? kill titans? that would be disobeying orders right now. I'm sure if Levi gave the orders Eren wouldn't be scared to fight.

They don't know because they weren't told what the real plan was. Remember that everyone got conflicting information about where Eren was going to be. Erwin is smoking out a mole. If everyone knew what they were doing there, it defeats the purpose.

Armin and the others were lucky Kirsta was nearby.
Lots of open spaces and lots of running around aimlessly.
That smart female titan sure gave everyone a lot of trouble.
Lots of confused face in this episode as well.
The episode got pretty intense towards the end.
