Notice how each episode's expression starts where the previous one left off. We need somebody to link the animated version together to get a full sequence.

Pretty much marks the stages Isla went through during the course of the 13 episodes.

Well this one was rather lackluster, started out interesting and then kind of lost it's luster midway. I enjoy watching Android romance anime(hell it's one of my favorite genres), but not so much this one however. Guess Chobits will never be replaced for me. I did enjoy Time of Eve a lot too.

Well, overall I think that was something of a disappointment. They had some promising ideas but failed to do anything to realise that promise. Personally I'd have liked more exploration of how the Giftias came about, why they have a limited span, and why a personal companion android needs super strength anyway, which for me never made sense.

I also think had the main couple been better realised, i.e. if Tsukasa wasn't such a naive kid, and if Isla had not been designed to tick all the 'moe' boxes, then the romance could have been more pleasing to behold and less awkward and cliched.

One thing I did enjoy was that they didn't screw up the ending. No "And here's Isla! She got her memories back because she's special, and because of the POWER OF LURRRVVVE!!!" Because that would have been abhorrent, and I was dreading they'd spring that after the end credits.
That was one thing they got right.

I honestly thought they were gonna make it a happy ending but it's a sad one instead. RIP Isla.

Absolute perfect ending. Nothing more to say. (I personally liked, that we didn't see who his next partner is, because it really isn't important!)

So rating... Strong start, then somewhat disappeared into "What are they even trying to create"-terrain, and then brought it back with a very strong ending.
Watch the first two episodes, then stop. If you happen to still continue until around episode 8 keep at it and go all the way.

I wouldn't say the new partner isn't important.
Technically it could even be Isla again, just with another name and character.

It also looks like its a girl again, roughly around Isla's size.

It would definitely explain why he was away so long for 'training'.

Can't believe I missed out the first time, got so involved with the events happening that didn't click till way later: The title of the last episode and its meaning.

Scratch the previous 50%, there is a 90-95% chance the new partner is Isla.

What is better than a beautiful loli waifu? A loli waifu that dies and gets her parts replaced.

you know what's a miracle? Tsukasa didn't die from whatever the hell disease thus no symbolic ending for him,

so who else think they went up to the next level with that bathing scene? then think what happens after that scene, both of them alone in that bathroom nekkid?

don't tell me they will reveal Tsukasa's new partner's identity in the DVD/Blu-Rays' because that is like the lamest suspense ever in marketing,

overall i give it five stars for trying hard on tragic end, also the companies that built Giftias in the first place sucked balls in robotics, they need to get punched in the face by Cyber Dyne or Anakin Skywalker,
RIP Isla the best robo waifu of Tsukasa.........

I think he ended up with her. We can't expect him to tackle her or randomly hug her and cry or the like. This is a new person would would freak at him doing that. The only way they wouldn't is if she has been around awhile and the others gave a history of her previous life. Her being back with him can have several reasons. One reason could be someone telling about her past and the new personality liking the sound of it and saying please let me see him.

If he got her old body with a new personality as a new partner, I would think that would be cruel. As someone that has lost loved one, to have them show up again and work around them but not be them would be horrible

I dunno where to place this series, it had some great moments, terrible moments, sometimes right next to each other. The drama felt forced but it worked well at some point. The ferris wheel scene actually choked me up at the end, but I kept expecting a stupid joke so I kinda ruined the moment for myself lol

If the new recruit has Isla's body, Tsukasa's smile speaks miles of his maturity and acceptance that the real Isla is gone.

But I don't think fate is that convenient.

The sci-fi setting was underused and under explained. We still don't know how the Gifta truly work, why the exist and why people were stealing them. I half expect some nasty twist in the last arc that wasn't present.

The core romance with a girl doomed to die at set date on the other side was fairly well handled, if sometimes clumsy at times, and they did eventually turn in a couple that felt real and in love... which was something the show had to absolutely get right.

Overall I'm going to give it a B and rec it to people who like romance stories that make them cry and laugh, through not as a entry show to that genre. Through it's not over yet, The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan, seems to be targeting the same crowd with better handling, despite a unambitious start, and I would rate it as the winner in a head to head competition, even if it's best watched after The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

Plastic Memories main problem is lack of exploration of it setting and general lack of ambition.... something a second session could address, and if such gets green lit I like to see them tackle that.

I would generally agree with this. It kinda missed on so much though, which makes it decidedly mediocre, it just doesn't *do* anything special.

I feel somewhat overwhelmed by thoughts about poorly placed comedy, lack of depth, infantilising Isla and things like that, which makes it hard for me to be particularly positive. Although I still found it to be a fairly enjoyable show that kind of worked but it could have been so much better.

I'm glad they didn't do a silly "she's back" ending, I was really expecting it. Which shows how cynical of the show I became.

Finally over. What a drag.
Happy it's over. I'll need to pay more attention next time to avoid getting caught into another series that I have to finish because I'm a completionist but hate every moment of.

There is certainly a reason for him randomly takking a 9 month training session in another branch, or possibly even overseas.

I was able to marathon the last 3 episodes. They were really nice watching back to back. It was such a sweet series and a sweet ending.

My main issue I took with the series is the lack of explanation of the Giftias. Ok, mainly, I have a problem with the series not explaining why the Giftias have a time limit in the first place. There is no technological explanation for it.

Otherwise, a really sweet series.
