And as a fansub editor, I always removed it when it didn't make contextual sense. So I guess it's CR's editors, rather than translators, who are at real fault.

I watched episode 4 and thought it was a bad episode, but the five after that one were great!
Nothing much happens in Episode 4 (introductions to this arc's characters) that's why I didn't like it, I'm pretty sure. And as stated earlier, most of the characters are not very likeable.

If you are impatient and want to get to the 'meat' quickly, then you will not enjoy this series as it progresses. Arcs get longer and introduction can take a whole volume! Moreover, if you don't pay attention during the slow build-ups, your enjoyment will become less satisfactory as you miss out a lot of information that will fit in later.

Due to the nature of the story, "getting to the point fast" is kind of impossible.

It's most certainly not for everyone but as far as I'm concerned this opens up a lot of ways to explore different sides of the same characters.

Well, Rem seems to be the one he really has to worry about. As long he keeps in mind what he learned through the loops and keeps his questions to himself, such as where Rem was keeping that weapon, he should be fine

Uhhhh hasn't he already made friends with both maids? Why would he need to be worried about either of them at this point? Remember the reason he was killed was because they didn't trust him.
