An interesting fact about Mero's nightwear, is that her white yukata is tied right over left, which is only ever used when dressing dead bodies. Living people are supposed to wear yukata and kimonos tied left over right. Not to mention the triangular headpiece she wears, which is supposedly what the deceased also wear. Considering that her brother is a zombie nut, that's quite a "ghost" quirk she has herself.

It was nice to see that scene with Mero momentarily confusing Rea for her mother, get animated. As for the odd time placement, it was supposed to have happened a bit later. No matter, I think the only problem with the placement is that it interrupted the resolution of ep. 8's cliffhanger.

Where I come from, a man (or a woman) caught, tried and convicted of sexually molesting a 15-year old (boy or girl) is branded a sex offender, and is placed on a public Sex Offender Registry for the rest of their life. Consensual or not, and not limited to sex acts themselves, but merely touching and groping would do. So, where I come from, Sanka Dad would definitely be considered a pedophile.

Even in Japan, wouldn't a 15-year old still be under the marriageable age, even with parental consent? Or is this sort of arrangement not considered taboo in Japan?

I feel little sympathy for Aria since she obviously wanted to marry for money & prestige and she was prepared to devote several years of her life to attain that goal. She asks for love from her husband when she did not have any in the first place, everything was a part of a plan.

The whole "The two actually met before!" development felt forced and something that was tacked on, but the idea leading up to the first episode wasn't bad.
More of dad being crazy, more entertainment and better though. (Mainly just the first scene though!)

Though during the bath scene when the two reached out and touched each other...
When they were swinging their arms, they somehow ended up grabbing in the opposite direction. Uh-huh... Obvious animator error FTL

Marriageable age with parental consent is 16 in Japan so they might have met when she was 15 and gotten maried later with the parents happy to see her marry into a wealthy family.

Consent age confuses me though, from what I understand it's 13 on a national level but local authorities can make local laws that override that and make it older so it seems it's between 13 and 18 depending on where you are in japan

at first I'm quite disappointed when there are no continuation from what's happening in ep 8
but it's paid off... this episode is maybe one of the best as well...

to see Mero's other side is adorable... now I'm sure Rea is getting along with Furuya's household

I don't know what her plan was at first, but I don't think she'd be hurting so much if all she wanted was money and power. After all, she has them.

But her pride has been damaged in the process, remember she said she was used to making ANY man fall in love with her. She might have the money to buy herself a lover, but that will not help her recover her lost pride. It is an odd contrast that Rea is a zombie, but the real monsters are her parents.

I suppose they could have waited until she was 16 (though i doubt it), but I do understand how her parents would have been happy to allow the marriage. Afterall, she would otherwise have presumably been a burden on them for years to come (financially and emotionally), being a cripple and an unmarriageable daughter. The plus being that he was from a wealthy and influential family, whereas they were merely commoners (so I understand).

I take it, therefore, that various regions of Japan have very liberal views on the age of consent, if not about sex in general. Is there no pedophile problem in Japan?
