Once you've obtained the costume (we're not sure how just yet), you'll be able to make Aya switch into it during your play sessions. This costume operates just like any other outfit, meaning it will tear up when Aya takes damage. In recent interviews, character designer Tetsuya Nomura said that once the clothes tear far enough, you'll be able to see Lightning's l'Cie marking.

In addition to looking like Lightning, the character will also sound like her. In Japan, Square Enix is having Aya's voice actress change the tone of her battle shouts and cries based off the costume.

While it's known that the game will have additional costumes outside of this Lightning one, we're not sure if there will be any other crossover costumes like this. If you want our personal opinion, we're hoping Square Enix went wild and put all the Final Fantasy heroine clothing in there. A Tifa outfit would look great! (Although there wouldn't be much to tear.)

The 3rd Birthday is giving something to the Final Fantasy series in return for the Lightning costume. As detailed at the Tokyo Game Show, The 3rd Birthday's Japanese release will include a product code which can be input into next Spring's Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy to obtain an Aya Brea outfit for that game's Lightning character.

In addition to this costume bit, we've updated our media gallery with artwork and screenshots showing new characters for the game. You'll find Karud "Boss" Owen, the head of the CTI agency that fights the Twisted, Dr. Blank, the head of CTI's computer systems, and Eve, Aya's little sister who may have a key role in the story.

Kinda sad that the main thrust of this game's marketing is pushing the silly Clothing Damage gimmick...

Gameplay-wise, I've no trouble with 3rd person shooter, since I prefer action games over RPG. What I don't like the most is the 'damaged city' setting.

Liberation system is kinda interesting but it won't be anything like PE1 of course

Edit: I'm not opposed to a reboot of the Aya Brea Story, whatever it shall be called now, because Square-Enix doesn't have the rights to Parasite Eve anymore, so rebooting the franchise and using an original supernatural/sci-fi backstory can mean more games. And more Aya.

What's dumb is the fanservice crap. That shit was kept to a minimum in the previous two games, and I liked it that way. The Clothing Damage crap is retarded--at least if you introduce a mechanic like that, make it a practical one (i.e. as armor takes damage and becomes less useful/worthless, you see the damage on the character).

The silly unlockable outfits I'm not really worried about. We had those in pretty much every survival horror game ever. Anyone remember Heather's mahoushojou parody outfit from SH3?

Edit 2: Having Maaya Sakamoto do Aya's voice acting is the best thing ever. But she doesn't sound nearly as badass as either Shiki Ryougi or Lightning.

Well, the clothing damage is surely a fanservice, but there's a trade-off for sure. The more the clothing is damaged, the more damage Aya will get.

I actually like her Aerith voice lol. It doesn't sound as "deadpan" as Shiki or Lightning. Also, it's probably because Aya isn't AS badass as either of those two, and is way more feminine... I don't know haha. Need to get the game to see, can't wait btw.
