Well, there are several cases where Crunchyroll has shown an episode with some censorship or alteration even though in some japanese station the episode was shown intact, two examples would be Junji Ito (WOWOW channel) and more recently SAO (AT-X).
But I've never heard any of this about Amazon, I believe they do not have this problem because it's a service known to be more "adult." I do not think there's anything to worry about. |

That was a nice first episode.
They've reduced the number of demons to 12 (48 in the original), not sure how it will affect the story. It's amazing Hyakkimaru managed to not only survive but also become a master fighter while being deaf, blind, mute, and limbless. He really owes the man who made his amazing prosthetics a lot. I wonder how he's going to communicate with Dororo until he recovers his voice. Looks like killing each demon will make him recover what they stole from him. His skin was first. He won't look as creepy as he did with that mask. Interesting that the series is named after Dororo when Hyakkimaru is the one that has all the makings of a main character.

Fantastic premiere. Great atmosphere, beautiful backgrounds and fluid animation, Furuhashi obviously totally in his element. I agree the OP song is subpar, but the animation sequence itself (by Koike Takeshi no less) is fantastic.

A very interesting first episode. The series definitely has a "good series" vibe.
I'm not familiar with this series (and didn't even realize it is a remake), so I was completely surprised when I checked out the manga...the difference between character design was shocking!

I guess he felt Dororo was a fast, catchy name for his work at the time. (Which beats those long-winded LN/WN titles that cram the entire premise into the title - 'My Dad Sacrificed my Body Parts to Demons for Power so I'm Questing to Recover Them - And There's a Sidekick called Dororo too!) The statue depicts the Guanyin/Kannon, the Buddhist goddess of mercy. I wouldn't say the statue saved him, more a divine force saved him via the statue. The OP singers are a glam rock band from Kobe, Queen Bee/Ziyoou-Vachi. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_Bee_(band) Apparently the lead singer Avu-chan, can sing in both high and low pitches, and is of African-American/Japanese descent. Word is Avu-chan is transgender. http://www.japanfm.fr/article-2355-q...langue=english They also did the ED for Tokyo Ghoul Re. Last edited by zztop; 2019-01-08 at 03:57. |

Came into the show no expectations and left pleasently surprised. I feel really bad for Hyakkimaru and his mother. To be sacificed like that by his trash heap of a father for his own personal ambition and power.

Cool OP sequence, but the song itself is pretty bland. Pretty awesome ep, I've only watched the live action movies, but always heard good things about the manga. Mappa really knocked out the park with this one, art and animations are top notch, with the fight at the end being the standout. Hyakkimaru's pretty badass, that's for sure. I have a fondness toward Sengoku Jidai setting, so that's another plus for me. The best premiere of this season for me, so far.
