There's good and bad drama. For me, Ep. 1 of Hanasaku Iroha fell squarely under mediocre (trite, vapid premiere.....it would not attract any attention whatsoever if it were live action TV).......it wasn't as bad as the worst Korean dramas that I sampled prior to my switch to anime, but it was neither refreshing nor particularly well executed.

It's definitely possible (see Gankutsuou, for example) but it would most likely cost a shit-ton to animate.

Gankutsuou is one of my favorite anime for it's color scheme alone. It was so gorgeous, every scene was eye candy.

Well Itou DID do the OP themes for the original games as well, you know. Might as well bring her back since she knows what she's doing. It only makes sense.

Singer aside, a LOT of those things (if not all of them) apply to most anime (of a serious tone) OPs in general. Nothing too astounding about that.

They did the keep the unique eye designs from the original work. I am quite happy about that.

Watched the first episode and I don't really know what the hell is going on, but it was damn entertaining and intriguing. The time travel story sounds interesting and Rintaro is one insane character, in a good way!

Just wondering, but do I have to watch Chaos;Head first before watching this?

^ While they are in the same universe, you don't need to watch Chaos;Head to watch Steins;Gate. In fact, it's kinda recommended you don't watch Chaos;Head in the first place

Regardless of the anime's quality, I still feel that watching it is beneficial, in the sense that it sets down and expands the universe Rintaro and company's adventures are taking place in.

"You need to find your Di-sword."
"But how do I find it?"
"I don't know, it's different for everyone. But you should hurry up and find it."
"So how do I find it?"
"You should hurry up and find it."
"But I don't know how to find it."
"Look inside yourself, you have the ability to find it."
"But I can't find it."

That was the gist of about eight episodes.

I personally have never watched Chaos;Head so I can't comment on that. It's just that I've seen so many negative reviews and comments about it which seems to suggest "don't watch."

I enjoyed it a lot too. It had great suspense but I remember the end being a little flimsy. But it's harder to find a solid ending these days so...
