Heh, this would be a double post as I'm typing it but...tonight I'm guessing not!

With regard to starting the story, you probably want to start with Nanoha and Fate, simply because they're the ones who are transitioning from one universe to the other. Otherwise, if you start with the Inner Senshi, you get the reaction, "Hey, where did these guys come from?!" Beginning with Nanoha and Fate lets you start developing your plot by detailing how they got from Universe A to Universe B (if not the mechanism for it, at least the events which sucked them in). And I now drop out of the conversation again to walk the dog... |

@deathcurse: Thanks! I actually like antagonists like that, they're more interesting that way and provide an even more interesting dilemma to the heroes. Hmm... and starting the story with Setsuna does have merit! I'll have to explore that! But, yes, it will be a mutli-chapter although I hope I'll be able to instill a sense of urgency still and keep the chapters to a minimum!

But, you know your breakdown is so much better that I'll go with that from now on! |

I'm with you, Nanya. Long stories keeps you focused on something, I don't like when its too short, cause I get bored easily, or I just don't read it carefully. Depends on the topic too, if its long and plain, I'll drop it halfway.
20 pages are fine for me at least

Yeah, the story....but each of your chapters can practically be stories on their own . Still amazed that you can churn that much out in such a short amount of time! Now you're just showing off!

We know, and thank you.
I leave for 90 minutes to come home and the topic jumps 6 pages? At least I've caught up already. I did get another fanfic idea during my trip home, but I'll be discussing it with people on the chat once I get it straightened out. EDIT: And got ninjaed by 3 people. |

Try 100KB+ of walls of text for fanfics churned out daily? Now THAT'S insanely fast. ... I wish Oneshot would come back. Hey, our last few chapters for Day in the Life, the shortest one was 19 pages long.

Obviously it's not true, but I do have the mind set of "assume male unless otherwise specified." So I dunno what to call you users with 'unspecified' genders ... Incidentally, I've been mistaken for a female online several times... Apparently writing good romances brings my virility into question... Anyways, on chapter length, long chapters are good, but I think for fanfiction, shorter chapters are better. I'm more of a casual reader, personally, so I'd rather have shorter bites that I don't need to commit a lot of time to. And if something else comes up, I can quickly finish the chapter and pause there before reading the next one. I'm not too fond of having to stop mid chapter.
