Hey guys, long time no see.
Preordered 130cm's Furi Furi from Hobby Search a while ago, and just got it in today... I'm currently in the prologue bit, right after the explanation as to what exactly Horobi and Merulusa are. I have to say, the idea of a dandy shark is amusing as hell. ^_^;; Anyways, anyone else here ever ordered games from Hobby Search before? I got the preorder book like I was supposed to, but they charged me 10700 yen for shipping... which is well, unheard of. I've never paid more than 2500 for shipping a game. ._.;; I'm assuming that it's a mistake in adding the totals, but I thought I'd get a second opinion before I go yell at them. |

More than likely, assuming the shipping weight/price is the same on the packing label as it was on the invoice you paid, then it's not as is the vendor themselves made any money on it or anything. The Post Office doesn't tend to mind if you put *too much* postage on the package (though for some reason they always care if you put too little!) Anyway, hope that helps you trace down the problem a bit. |

I hardly believe so, otherwise, they would actually offer these on their side already...
To be quite blunt, in various instances, the CG are the selling factor coupled with the plot etc. Hence, I don't think it is actually condoned by them to see their CG going everywhere.

Leaf has released a short trailer for their upcoming game 君が呼ぶ、メギドの丘で (Kimi ga yobu, Megido no oka de).
Download Nicovideo Is it just me or does the BGM sound really good? At least I know what game I'm going to buy in November. But I'm beginning to wonder what Leaf really wants to create, Erogames or console RPGs... Last edited by Orrin; 2008-09-13 at 14:45. |

And that game had Half-Life 2 like loading times on my laptop. Although to be fair, although my desktop is more powerful (which I ran HL2 on), it has only 1GB of RAM, compared to my laptop's 2GB.
I'm guessing the non-combat/roaming scenes will be in traditional 2D. BTW, the main character needs a better run animation.

Wordplay asked, "...why are all japanese ero-games like barely interactive CG sets?"
If you want to find out how visual novels became prevalent, as well as one of the main forms of H games, a little research can help. Wikipedia has an entry here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eroge A few years ago, a person called wrote a history on eroge. I can't find the article at the moment, but a similar one exists at Heisei Democracy (NSFW): heiseidemocracy.com/2006/08/09/pure-love-renaissance-the-kanon-saga-begins Thankfully, there is more than choose your own adventures. Complex simulations are rare -- I don't know of any adult time management/dating games made in the last decade which are meant to be as deep as Tokimeki Memorial. But there are some lightweight adult simulations such as the Pia Carrot series. If you look on certain other forums, you can learn about 3d porn games in which the player character can move freely and interact with other 3d characters. Finally, be sure to read reviews at animetric.com (partially NSFW), hentaineko.com (mostly NSFW) and http://www.erogereview.com Their reviews range from simple visual novels to experimental games, RPGs, and puzzle games. Well, the other reason is that a lot of them are novels first, games second. Rather than thinking of them as "barely interactive games", it's better to think of them as "multimedia-enhanced books". Then it all makes more sense. The main reason it's labelled a "game" is because it's sold the way games are sold. That isn't to say there aren't a lot of hybrids, as was mentioned, but I think the main reason people get into this weird confusion about it (like, "why don't they make them 'real games'?") is just because there's not really much else like it.
