HI, BILLY MAYS HERE
|
It's a shame the North American market is stuck with a worn-out 1st gen Focus while the rest of the world gets the 2nd gen...The 3rd gen is supposed to reunite the North American market with the same car as the international market, better late than never, but still late...I like the North American Focus up until the 2007 body style, but then it just becomes an ugly commuter car with the 2008 body style; It doesn't even look like a Focus...
It's also a shame they never brought over an RS variant at any time during the Focus's existence in the North American market...Yeah, we got the nifty SVT Focus with the badass Cosworth-tuned engine, but I still would like to see a factory turbo'd Focus too...An AWD rally-style variant would be nice too, but oh well...At least they kept the driveshaft tunnel on the chassis for the street variants from the rally variants; That's what made a V8-powered RWD Focus possible... They need to bring over the Mondeo from the European market (Of which I'm positive they're actually going to do, along with the Fit) and they need to bring the Falcon from the Australian market (Which I'm positive they'll never do, while GM imports Holdens-turned-Pontiacs)...Especially the Falcon; The XR6 Turbo and XR8 would be the great antidote for the decades of Taurus woes...

As I've said in the past in other forums, the North American market got shafted big time with most cars. Even US based Ford has screwed us as ya'll have pointed out. BUT my favorite 2 car companies were the ones that screwed us the most. Honda and Nissan. Let me narrow it down to the 96-00 Civics (my favorites more or less). Japan gets the SiR with a 170HP B16A, something with the 3 stage D15B, and the Type-R with 185HP B16B with a kickass suspension, weight reduction, reinforced frame, Recaro seats, and a bunch of other totally sweet stuff. Now NOBODY but Japan got the EK9 Type-R. To make us feel better they give US and Europe the a toned down DC2 Integra Type-R that's not even as good as theirs (missing the Recaros and a less powerful engine amongst other things). But hey at least Europe and practically everyone else gets the VTi with the 160HP B16A2..... except the US. Instead the only hatchbacks we get are the CX and DX with the anemic non-VTEC D16Y7 with a pathetic 109HP, crap suspension and manual EVERYTHING (even the D14 powered EJ9 had power windows and a sunroof). But hey we got coupes.... with either the Y7 or the Y8 with 128HP woohoo. At least we have a Del Sol VTEC with the B16. But WAIT, FINALLY in 99 they decide to give us an actual CIVIC with a B-series: the B16A2 powered Si.... that weighs a shit ton more than the Euro VTi hatches.
and that's just small bit. We never got a single 88-95 civic with a B-series but in Japan and Europe, they were covered up in them. I mean come on, they had Civics with B-Series in Japan since 1989 and it took them 10 years to give us one. But we did have Integras that had non-VTEC B-series since 1990 and then VTEC ones in 1992 (with the same power as JDM Civics had but in a heavier chassis). We did however get an actual EP3 Civic in 2002. But again we were screwed. Ours had a k20 with a lousy 160HP while everybody else got a much better K20 with way more power. We had the RSX Type-S though with 202HP. The first decent car they sent us but the left the Type-R out though so we still didn't get top of the line. Not until 2006 with the FG2 Civic Si that was BETTER than the Euro Type-R. 1HP less overall output but lighter, better chassis and a FAR superior suspension. Finally, the US had the top end model..... then they screwed us again. The JDM FD2 Type-R sedan. But hey, at least the USDM Si coupe and Sedan are number 2. Nissan's is short. No skyline until the Infiniti G35 which was a V35 Skyline. Unfortunately, those were sucky Skylines in comparison to the R32-34. No Silvia until 95 (labeled 240SX). Our S13 coupe still had the 180SX front end so they don't count. No S15 at all. And here's the worst part. No SR20DET. Instead we get the N/A KA24E and KA24DE. They did however give us the 300ZX TT known in J-land as the Fairlady Z. Some of the exterior bits didn't look as cool but it still had the Twin Turbo VG30DETT. Toyota.... hell we got the kickass 300HP Supra first. But they screwed us on everything else though. We got a lot of 2JZ's only we got the GE's not the turbo GTE's. Only the Mk IV Supra had those. And rant done. |

European Ford > American Ford, that was my point. I can see your all out Japanese car fanatic, would you like some tuned up kei cars? They work great in back alleys, great toys to have, sorta like caged karts xD

1stly, id rock a cappucino ALL FREAKING DAY
2nd your wrong, honda and nissan (to an extent) arent even close to shafting the most. Yes we didnt get the skyline but we did get the s13/s14 and the s15 engine. the biggest shafters are mitsubishi and Subaru. They had the WRX, STI, STI RA all the EVo1-7, various VR4s etc...NONE of them were imported. instead we got DSM crap and 2.2L imprezas. It goes Mitsubishi, Subaru, then Nissan. I like european cars, and i agree ford fumbled. To a degree i agree on honda, but there are so many variants of USDM hondas with B series, it doesnt count as much. dont underestimate the pathetic d series, i had a EK hatch with a d16y7, fully built boosted 18 psi and made like 303 horsepower, but yes otherwise it blows. |

In the way of Honda even that isn't it. Type-S Preludes, Type-R Accords, Euro R Accords (TSX Here but still not as kickass as the Euro R). Options and appearance things on many Hondas were not even available here. Foglights for EK's, only round clear here and I see NO ONE with original round clear fogs. I mostly only see JDM (or replica) Yellow or Clear Square fogs. no 96-98 had the 1.4/VTi/SiR bumper moldings. No US 96-00 had the good looking break away mirrors. Instead we get the ugly fat one piece triangles. We got lame ass looking seats, steering wheels, and other interior bits. And the list just goes on. I mean it's stuff that Honda even gave the UK, the rest of Europe, Asia and even parts of South America. I mean c'mon. Maybe Honda, Nissan and all the others figured we were too busy drinkin beer and driving Camaro's to give a shit about nice J cars. I had kinda forgotten about Subaru and really I don't give a crap about Mitsubishi but at least we did eventually get STi's and Evo's and still have them. The only Type R we got was only an Integra and was not even as good as the JDM version in just about every aspect but it didn't even last long. There was never a US Civic Type R. The UK got one in 02. We got the same looking car as an Si but with a worse suspension and weaker engine. With the Evo's though, I only ever liked the Evo VIII and Evo IX but not even that much. I do like STi's but if I had my choice between a JDM STi or an EK9 CTR, I'd take the EK9 any day. |

Times when I hate cars. Today. Had to change my clutch slave cylinder...... again. I had to change it a year and a half ago. It was being a huge PITA though. The bolts refused to go back in when I put the new one on. On top of that I took forever to get pressure back into the pedal.
