Yes, it's strange. But then I searched more and found:

Modern usage

Paean is now usually used to mean an expression of praise or exultation (such as its coining in the tautological expression "paeans of praise").

Anyways on the Ali front wouldn't expect him to get anything more than a replacement Arche. If they are going to set up an Ali vs Tieria fight as it feels like then they really can't give the guy anything more powerful. 00 Raiser with Trans-AM did win but most are going to lose against that anyway. Besides Setsuna winning here frees him to have his major battles later against Mr.Bushido and probably Ribbons. Arche is a good unit so he'll be fine with that.
