Costant awesomeness though time!

Hi!
I would like to see an anime with these characteristics:
1) Preferrably set in a school, but I don't mind other settings as well.
2) the main character is not an idiot!
3) the main character shows amazing abilities which leave evreyone in awe.
4) "Magical" skills are preferred, but I don't mind skills of different natures as well.
5) These skills should leave evreyone in awe throughout the series. Not like in many anime where the main character is shown very strong at the beginning to only become a but better than normal when the bad boss shows up!

Hmmm, off the top of my head the male lead in Kaze No Stigma has power that leaves others in awe, from beginning to end. Also he's a sarcastic jerk but by no means an idiot.

Would help if you mention wich series you already watched... and usually series set in highschools = main characters with a certain degree of stupidity -.-

If you don't mind that it's as far from a modern school as possible... Rurouni Kenshin, especially the first OVA.

You might like Bakeneko and its successor Mononoke. The main character fits many of requirements.

Not a school anime, though. It's set in 19th century Japan.

Full Metal Panic, althrough the main character is a military nut but this anime pretty much fits your needs.

Maburaho's main character has extremely powerful magic, but he can only use it a handful of times, so everybody just assumes he is weak, only to be upshowed when he does something normally impossible. I don't think he is stupid, but be forewarned that it is a harem show.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann hasn't been mentioned? Granted there's a high possibility you've seen it already but still. When I think of awesomeness that increases rather than decreases as the series goes on, the first thing I think of is TTGL.

It's very underestimated and it's short, but worth it all and I think it fits your description.

Hmmm... Chrome Shelled Regios seems to fit your criteria pretty well. By episode 5 even I was in awe of the hero's abilities.

Although I'd recommend Cross Game most of all. No "magical abilities", just awesome baseball skills but other than that it fits.

It does fit his description, but people are better off suggesting stuff that are less gloomy. When someone suggested me DN, I was a little disappointed in the end. Either way, a nice suggestion.
