Well, many people complained about how Remember11 wasn't a second Ever17, right? I figure that means that people wanted to feel an equal amount of surprise, feel generally pleased about solving the overall mystery in the end. So I think that you would define a "second Ever17" within those same parameters.
I think that aside from the obvious reasons, people didn't like Remember11 because there was no satisfaction that we got because the whole mystery wasn't solved for us and there was no satisfying conclusion that resulted from it. Basically, we want a game that meets up to those exact same standards, but no matter what, there's going to be something you don't like about the newer games when compared to Ever17. In essence, by using Ever17 as a standard for all future Infinity games and Nakazawa/Uchikoshi works, we want something to be just as good as what we consider the best in the series, but it's exactly because it's such a high standard that it doesn't happen. Therefore, what I'm saying by this game not being a "second Ever17" is that I don't expect it to have the exact same amount of satisfaction that we get from it, but if it still has good twists, then that's fine. Hell, if it's even better than Ever17, then we would consider "Route Double" to be our new standard, right? It's something like that. I apologize if I sound rude/pretentious or if you don't agree with me. I am merely stating my opinion, that's all, and I don't wish to start a fight/argument. lol I'm not starting a fight; I just wanted to know what you meant. I figured that anything remotely like Ever17 would have to fall short of it because of predictability, and thus the game would have to be completely different (too different to call the second E17) to reach the wow factor E17 gave us. It'd be like calling Inception the second Shutter Island.
But I get what you mean now, and agree that it'll most likely not happen because our expectations aren't blank slates anymore. The writers won't blindside us a second time unless they use pseudonyms to throw us off. |

Story
LABO - a giant research facility with a nuclear reactor September 16, 2030 - 6:19:30 AM - the "incident" occurs The security system malfunctions, locking down every section of the basement, trapping 3 rescuers and 6 people waiting to be rescued inside. The incident occurred because the nuclear reactor caused a meltdown, filling LABO with the ashes of its dead. There are still 9 hours before the system recovers. The rescuers have only enough drugs to prevent radiation exposure for 6 people, but what about the other 3 ... ? And strange unexplainable phenomena keep happening... There are 6 mysteries surrounding this incident: 1. During the incident, the captain of the rescue team lost his memory. What happened ? 2. Why were these normal high school students locked up in a place like this ? 3. A murdered body was found in the research facility they've been locked down in. Why ? 4. Why did this incident happen ? Why can't they get out ? 5. Why is one that cannot exist --- "that guy" --- here ? The mystery gets deeper and deeper. Gradually, the constant conflicts get more and more on these people's nerves... Which one of them can make it out of this hell alive ? The key to surviving is hidden 6 days ago. In the sealed memories of the young man ---- |

Thanks for translating that. I was going to, but it saved some effort.
Hmm...those mysteries are very interesting. This gets me intrigued, especially the points they present. Spoiler for Major Ever17/Remember11 spoilers:

Yeah, but it wouldn't be Nakazawa without them, would it? Granted, the OPs of Never7 and I/O didn't have any either, but those were kind of different (and the PSP version of Never7 had technical terms in them.)
Anyway, I love the trailer music. I wonder who's going to do the music this time around? Definitely not Takeshi Abo (who I predict will be doing Code18.), but I don't think ONOKEN is doing it this time either. Apparently, Myself ; Yourself's music was done by 5zizz (who did the music for the PS2 versions of Higurashi), so maybe it'll be him? |

Site's been updated.
-Interview with Mikeou -More information about Route A and Route B -Information about LABO -4 Event CGs, along with scene descriptions about them. -2 new 4-koma manga. Holy s*** about those CGs. Now I'm even more curious. I'll get around to translating this new information tomorrow after I finish translating my latest Never7 script. |
