School Days. That should be enough romance for you...

Spoiler:
A few I'd mention would be Itazura na Kiss, Karekano, Aishiteruze Baby, and Futari Ecchi(AKA Step up Love Story). The first three aren't ecchi, but Spoiler:
One other I might recommend is Amagami SS, specifically the first arc (Haruka). Spoiler:

NOT A SINGLE KISS DURING THE SERIES. They're '' dating '' but you don't see a single kiss... they get married ( or do they, because I sure cant remember this ), but you dont see a single kiss.... just fail. They have a baby, but of course, nothing of that is shown together .. not sure if they're even shown sleeping together.. So yeah, this is not really what the OP was looking for.

Then I suggest and recommend ef - a tale of memories and its sequel ef - a tale of melodies. Those titles are among my favorites, and I think they fit your criteria.
They're not exactly ecchi titles, but the stories are very very good, there's a lot of interesting romance and the couples and their relationships are explored and developed throughout the shows. Yes, there is more than one couple, and the romance progresses to that "stuff". I also recommend you check out SaiKano, it's good and the romance goes further, although it's a little heavy on the drama.

Actually, the OP need to look beyond Shonen/ harem anime and look into shoujo. In Shoujo they did alot more mature stuff than shonen. But even with Shoujo it is likely that the mature stuff only appear at the end of the series. Afterall it is universal in the anime world that we do not like to see people sleeping around.
Someone already mention, but how about School Days? It totally break the convention of couples "not doing stuff"

Well, now that the thread has risen from the dead like something out of the Thriller video, I second REC as a pleasant change from the usual giggly nosebleed gags.
Hataraki Man also takes a grown-up view of sex, although from memory there's more in the manga than the anime. Wouldn't josei be the best demographic to look at? Although to be fair, some seinen manga like those in Afternoon manage to be adult without being pr0n, so there's potential when they get animated too.

Discussion in regards to illegally obtaining licensed anime is prohibited on the forum. Paradise Kiss and NANA are good recommendations; Bokura Ga Ita also dives a bit deeper than your average series. |

I'd say Maison Ikkoku, but it's 96 episodes long and it takes a good portion of that before the main couple get down to business. If you can stand a lot of frustration, I still recommend it as one of the best romantic comedies ever. The payoff in the last 16 or so episodes is golden.
