Nah, one of Atlus USA's PR managers confirmed recently in a 1UP podcast that there were 'no plans' for a Western release, and 'no plans' is developer shorthand for 'never, ever, ever, ever, ever'.

Then again, that was before Catherine's release and subsequent enormous sales. The source everyone is really freaking about is this.

At least, there's still hope for us no matter the odds and with their successful sales I do not see why they won't localize the game in the west when many gamers are expecting this to come, I presume.

Hardly. The Persona series has a huge following outside of Japan, so i wouldn't say the chances of Persona 5 (which hasn't even been announced yet

) being localized are 0%.

...In today's age of mass media and internet, it's completely ignorant to think that localizers "do not get what the people want" anymore.

They know some of you want it, that does not mean they think there's enough people willing to buy it so that they can recover costs/profit on releasing the game.

Well it does say "no plans at this time", which isn't quite the same as "no plans" simpliciter (trying to be optimistic here). Does anyone have an estimate of how many copies an average localised release has to sell to break even?

Anyway, I'm taking other people's opinion at NeoGAF and agreeing that they can't really say they have plans until it's announced, so "at this time" doesn't mean much.
