^Not sure where you get "8 years old" from. We don't know exactly when Mengroze treated Cruz, but Arca looks pretty grown up in the flashback, so it can't have been very long ago.

Anyway, I suspect they just took advantage of the situation that presented itself when Cruz got injured. But we'll find out soon enough. Probably.

You're going to have to explain where you're going with that. I don't see what AC has to do with anything.

not in chapt 99 but another one

Needless that he mean is not people with fragment power, but people who no one need, he even deem himself not worthy to drag Eve and Mio down with him during Eve rescue, and sacrifice his last strength to bring Eve to Mio before fall down in such a height that can kill him even before he reach the bottom of the pit (but thanks to Testa-Disk this can be avoided)

surerman @ Yeah he call himself a *true needless* and AnN in vol 1.5 say something similar * I was a true Needless * or something like this. It's seem that this 2 love call themself this way.
If Cruz and AnN not are the same person they can become a couple lol(just kidding).

You mean this part?

Cruz: Sorry, but Mengroze's human experiments don't work on Needlesses!!
Arca: I see... So you have been approaching the truth in your own way...
Cruz: The truth!? What are you talking about!?

Yes, that's a puzzling little exchange. It does seem like Cruz is claiming to be a Needless, but I think he's just bluffing because he doesn't want to end up with five legs and two heads... Arca's reply certainly takes him by surprise. What a pity she didn't answer his next question. What is she talking about?

At first that statement does seem to suggest Cruz believes he's a Needless, but then he gets completely confused when Aruca suggests he's approaching the truth. Re-reading it a few times, it really doesn't make much sense, as nowhere during that fight with the Human Experiments did Mengroze tell Cruz that only humans were useable test subjects. Combined with the previous question Cruz asked Aruca about brainwashing him, the only logical meaning I can get from that exchange was that Cruz was saying Needless can't be defeated by the Human experiments.

Yep, pretty much this. The operation table reminded him of Mengroze, so it was normal he would say that upon seeing her sister about to sedate him. No need to break our heads.

Now, Cruz was shocked to hear Mengroze was a brain surgery specialist, right? It does not surprise me, you can tell by how things went that Arca herself brought Cruz to Mengroze using a serious injury that had nothing to do with the brains as an excuse to experiment on him. From this point we can pretty much assert that "that person" Arca was referring to at the Third Shelter when she all of a sudden stopped on her tracks when she was going to finish her brother off was Mengroze.

That was what made everything click, at least for me. I thought that was odd at the time - Cruz was treated by Mengroze himself, so surely he should have known Mengroze's specialisation. And yet he reacts with surprise when Gido tells him that Mengroze was a brain surgeon. I can't imagine Cruz forgetting something like that.

In other words, his injury had nothing to do with Arca taking him to Mengroze. It was a cover to hide whatever it is that Arclight is after inside Cruz's head.

Every time I see Cruz call himself needless it gets to me.

That's the part I meant. It was puzzling and seeing Arca say Cruz was learning the truth in his own way made me think he had actually discovered he was a needless. Now that I read through it again, Cruz was surprised by Arca's response.

feeling down....what happen?, broke up with girlfriend?, still not achieve your goal?, shunned by others?

no one truly needless u know?, even bacteria have use in this planet, so don't say U as a homosapien is needless. No life ever born to this planet have no purpose, just like my folk fairytale about Cresent-Star crest

heck even Needless in this manga is not a being that no one need, some, needed by others, like how Blade (needless) needed by Eve (needless) or Cruz (human?)

Just stopping by to say hi while I'm still on vacation! I'll be flying out to spend a day in Tokyo in a few days. Gonna try to buy Ultrajump and Volume 14 while I'm there. Hopefully we all get it before then but I should be able to help when I come back home Sunday. Until then, hope you all have fun (and hope we all get the new chapter and the 4koma too [pm me if possible]!)

Am I the only one who's more excited for the St. Rose 4koma than Chapter 100 here? Well, maybe not more excited since it is Chapter 100 but I am looking forward to the comedy side-story that was released with this month's chapter. Jabagata posted a preview on his blog (and what he said this month wasn't really detailed and actually geared more toward the 4koma)

Spoiler:

Kinda skimmed through the thread since I left on vacation and am interested in what has been said. I don't really have anything to add but I do kinda wonder what Saten thinks or will think when he learns about all this. He's been doing a lot to protect Cruz and probably doesn't want Arclight knowing about what makes Cruz special. Kinda wondering if he'll make an appearance soon.

Also, I wonder if Kuchinashi has a Stigmata if she'll start talking. You know, kinda as comedy since she's super powered up then and suddenly becomes more vocal, kinda like with Lilith Temptation. Might be fun.

his brain is more than enough 'power' for him, even Arca said it herself, while for Blade....just stay cute is enough

So are you saying Cruz is afraid Arca's intending to turn him into some kind of (in)human anti-Needless weapon? Though I can't see what the point of doing that would be, I suppose it doesn't make any less sense than any other interpretation...

Actually, I've never been a huge fan of 4koma. I don't know if they're inherently hard to translate, or the ones I've read just haven't been very good examples of the form, but they often seem to fall a bit flat. But at least with Imai there shouldn't be any problem with the quality of the gags...

I think if she had a Stigmata she should be able to change its shape to spell out words, and talk that way. It would be pretty convenient not having to carry that notepad around everywhere. Of course, to counterbalance that, it would have to be situated somewhere inconvenient for everyday situations. Like the sole of her foot. (What? Where did you think I was going to say? )

None of that, I just don't like how Cruz beats himself down like that.

The kid needs more confidence . Like always I'm itching to see what will happen to him next.

I agree it doesn't seem like there would be much of a point, but Cruz looked like he was just trying to figure out what was going on. Like you said earlier it was a puzzling exchange, and it didn't seem to make much sense as written. Hopefully it will be cleared up in the new chapter.

Or better yet, she'd have to take her socks off. It'd be even funnier if Blade were around and he could freak out.

Actually, talking about this makes me wonder if Setsuna will have one, too. Her panties changed from normal to a side-tie thong so maybe hers is on her butt? I am a little curious to see who the other Stigmata Needless are since there are 12 and we've seen less than half.

I originally thought Setsuna and Kuchinashi's fragments were too low level to have a stigmata, but then Teruyama revealed he has one and his fire fragment was said to be low level. If we narrow things down:

Arclight himself has a stigmata and also has eight others under his control.
Teruyama has one, bringing the total to ten.
Blade's stigmata, which has disappeared (With numerous theories as to where it's gone). That's eleven.
The unknown Needless's stigmata that burned itself into Mengroze's hand. Assuming it's not one of the ones Arclight already has that's twelve.

So there's only really one that's truly unaccounted for, which is the last one.
