I think the only reason why Velvet Kiss is popular among female readers beside it was authored by a woman and josei-ish plot that it also available in popular scanlation sites like Mangafox and OneManga as well as hentai ones like Fakku. However all Harumi Chihiro's mangas have been taken down as most of her works already licensed in North America.

Speaking about hentai artist, I think my all-time favorite is Miray Ozaki for her(yes Miray Ozaki is she) work The Great Escape. Not just one of the most entertaining hentai manga I ever read but also it is a good parody of shoujo mangas. Unfortunately she is vastly overlooked just because none of her works available outside Fakku and other hentai scanlation sites.
