Well, good point. I just meant...I knew there was going to be two versions of the game, but for a while now I had thought both would be $40, I mean, I thought people would have to pay $40 to play both base routes, so when I said what I said, I was thinking "well, at least Nintendo is discounting the second route...".


So is Fire Emblem Fates hitting North America in either Q1 or Q2 2016?

Also, the Atlus FE game for Wii U (tentative title 'Illusory Revelations #FE')...is that not expected to hit North America until Q3 or Q4 of 2016?

And now I'm going to have to do this one at the same time.

And I realized what I ultimately want to do with this game is create a full team (except me) of Nyuks from various playthroughs and various skills and put them in 1 castle, so I will probably have to play Nohr another 9 times too, then collect all of the conversations including the copy-paste ones for the mothers.

As you may have expected, the route has both Hoshido and Nohr qualities.
You can build buildings of both, play both the black and white lottery, and have free maps.

Also, from the silhouettes, you can get every character.
In other words, my waifu too.

Haa... Went through the last 4 chapters (+last extra) in one night and finally finished Nohr's story. Probably will write a lot more with images later in my blog tomorrow, but in short review (as the credits roll):

So as I said before, really don't look forward to the story. It isn't that good at all. Heck, depending on the person, you might get annoyed. When the protagonist decides to change Nohr from the inside, you'd think she would be more active in... really doing anything.

But no, from start to finish, she just follows orders. Yes, there is a reason, but still... The same development of trying to end things peacefully and then failing because of the King and co. and then not doing anything about it literally continues until the end.

And you know, why is Gantz, who has the appearance and personality of Mr. Bandit number 1231, make it to the end? Maybe if he was more interesting of a character, then sure, but...

I remember seeing posts about Aqua as waifu, but I hardly agreed then and I definitely don't agree now. As I said before, all she really did was pat the protagonist's back and give reassuring words. And in a way, you could consider her the protagonist in a way... Which doesn't really matter, because her HP doesn't grow and can't take a hit to save her life.

And lol, I hate Takumi.

First, he is the boss of the difficult Chapter 10
Second, the next time he appears, he gives me a hard time with his Slip-Through skill
Third, he emos, dies, and then gets turned into the last boss, of all things

Difficulty:
But... I will say, that the system itself is generally great.
The whole "No use limit" for all weapons is... both good and bad. I'm fine either way.
The "The stronger the weapon, the more demerits of using it" thing is... also okay. This allows weapons that are ignored late game to be used all the way to the end. But at the same time, I had no attention to the Silver weapons this game. Didn't buy one or use one at all.
The dual system is more improved now, which not only leads to more strategies, but also makes the game harder because the enemy AI will actively create Offensive dual strikes when attacking. Enemies that only move when you enter their range of attack will move to join in dual strikes even if they cannot attack from themselves.

The gimmicks and overall difficulty was quite hard. That said, I was doing the "hardest route" in Hard. So... it should be hard.
The whole "No Free Map" handicap really isn't that much of a handicap. Because with the story maps (28) + all Children maps + 3 extra Castle Defense maps, you really have enough to pretty much Lv20 most of your characters.
In this game, the children comes at a level corresponding to your level (not the parents, but in general level), and if you are already promoted and say, level 15, then the children will come with a special "Child Proof" that not only promotes them, but immediately boosts their level and stats to a corresponding level. So when I realized the number of units that could enter the map was more than the number of units I had raised, I went and unlocked the children and brought in a couple for the last few maps.

BGM fine as usual
No CG -> sucks
Touchy touchy thing -> Umm... I'm fine with it, though it definitely surprised me. Not enough variation, so if you want to continue this thing in the future, go borrow some knowledge from the LovePlus team or something...

Oh, and...

I was so barely able to max out all of her stats (except the useless Strength). She was able to get the last 1 Def needed to max out her Defense in the last chapter, so hoorah!
And I can't say I regret pouring my love into her, because her Nosferatu wall was such a savior. While it no longer can attack twice, it can either soften all of the enemies that attack or by using Food or the temporary stat boosting items, can still defeat in one hit. That, and with these stats, she was also great at killing the bosses.

To be honest, the strongest Class this game is probably the General though. Because they get a skill that prevents both sides attacking twice in a battle.
What does that mean?
Dual Strike system helps towards General's low movement.
And now Speed doesn't even matter.
That means the only thing that General still has as a weakness is the Mag. Def, but even then, since the enemy cannot attack twice and the General still has plenty of HP and Strength, you can usually survive two Magic hits and kill back with a Javelin. Very reliable wall on par with Nyuks for me.

In Short:
If you like the Fire Emblem system, buy it
If you want a good story, forget it

Syrus: Chapter 10
Because that chapter is very difficult and he died on the last turn. A good map that requires your entire army to work their job, but... one that I did not want to try over again.

Aqua: Chapter 20
Annoying wind blowing everywhere, so I didn't want to lose my good growths and was tired of the wind.
And besides, with only 20 or so HP, she was more of a burden anyways.

Peroa, Flora: Last Chapter
You don't save anyways after beating the game, so it didn't really matter... That, and you can't save between Chapter 27 and the last, so I was ready to lose all of my units except Nyuks to beat the game. Considering how badly I was being rushed by the enemy, I'm surprised I didn't lose more...

Not a good story? That's unfortunate. TBH, I play Fire Emblem games less for the combat than I do for the story and characters. I really loved Radiant Dawn and I liked Awakening quite a bit, but once I saw the new style of Fates I knew I wasn't going to like it. I'm kind of glad I didn't waste my money on it.

I'm sure the story is "good enough" that I'll enjoy it as I did with Awakening. Still a shame though that it seems it can't reach the narrative heights of the older games from the sounds of it.

Still very much looking forward to this game.

Meh, I've heard that the third wasn't exactly great either.

The question is... how did you feel about Awakening's story on a scale from 1 to 10? If you though it wasn't close to a 10, then we probably have different story tastes and it is all alright... if you thought it was very good, then there may be a problem. But still, I'm sure it'll be fine.

Another thing, Fates is the last game that Iwata served as executive producer and the last game he did a Iwata's ask on... RIP

Finished Invisible Kingdom... Story-review.
As for difficulty, I played Phoenix+Normal, so I can't really say anything about it right now. I plan to play through Hard-mode after creating my Nyxs army, but until then... Fuhahaha.

Without spoilers, in short, it was more or less the average Fire Emblem story. Better than the mess that was Nohr's story, at the least.

Story goes...
Chp 1-15: Let's go around and convince ALL of the characters to join the army
(Yes, that is all you do)

Chp 19-26: Final boss resurrects all of these people you hold dear to you for you to fight *insert drama about killing and releasing their souls each time*

Chp 28-28: You fight against a Dragon that went crazy

End: You become King of the Invisible Kingdom... which seems to have enough people left to actually rule, which is a bit of a surprise since there wasn't really any scene that showed that there were any villages or normal people left.

So the story is a bit more of the usual "Let's save the world from bad dragon!" Fire Emblem, though there wasn't really a story until the latter half/climax.
Oh, and
Lol, Crimson. I guess I was supposed to be sad for her, but well, a bit hard considering the suddenness. Yes, I'm looking at you too, Lilith.

Also, one thing that bothered me was the reaction of the characters differed from the other routes. I understand Gunter, because his role is different, but as for the rest...
I've already said before, but the siblings still pretty much believed in you or at least was ready to use force to bring you back even after you betray and attack them in the other two routes. But in the 3rd route, you attack random no-names and they are all on fire about you betraying them.

Garon was so careful to hide his insanity in Nohr, but he is completely no-care, very open about it, which is not only different, but is used by the story to convince Marcus and Leon to join your side.

As for Aqua, considering the story, I would have hoped that her epilogue would have at least been a little more colorful than the "She disappeared and no one really knows" that she defaults to. Especially since she kinda opens up to help you rule over the kingdom... and then the epilogue goes "Who knows?"

A lot of people fluent in Japanese says the story sucks.... heck consumers on Japanese sites like Amazon are saying the same thing. If it didn't bother you in Awakening though I doubt it will here either.

Most of the complain are about the price on Amazon and I don't really take them seriously. There are a lot of false spoilers that people is spreading, there still a lot of stuff remain unclear. Shits like Sakura getting tearing into pieces by Faceless or that special scene that you got if you married Azura in the third route or that one character dying then coming back is some of false spoilers. I rather wait to get my hand on it first.

Fire Emblem has always had a rather simplistic storyline, and I've never really found them to be compelling anyway.
