Heh, I'll give the track events to Sonic, but Mario should dominate the field events. As for the other events, depending on what it is, I'd say they'd go either way or Mario would win, due to his experience and versatility (basketball - check; baseball - check; soccer - check; and so on and so on).

Though Sonic might want to have some paramedics on hand for the swimming events; I don't think Mario even has to lift a finger to win those.

Pokemon is very much off my game list because:
1) nothing new other then a new list of monsters on each new series
2) I fell asleep 50% of the time
3) once you do the cookie cutter combo, you beat the game or other people for that matter.

I am happy that Nintendo finally got around to make use of DS on the Wii, but the result is sort of disappointing. However, if they make FFC2 on the Wii and allow online play, I will be all over this like a nerd bonding onto a DOA body pillow.

Bits of info

- There's no official name yet.
- A sequel wasn't made earlier because they didn't want to evolve the game graphically, they wanted to evolve it from a gameplay standpoint, make it more surreal. With the Wii they were given this chance, and they took it.
- I think it says Sega will make the official unveiling at the beginning of April.
- Two players mode.
- Online (not discussed, it sounds like could be just WiiConnect24 and no online gameplay).
- Nightopia revisited with more human characters, more enemies and bosses, more tricks and a bigger freedom of movements.
- Sonic Team is doing the game.
- Takashi Iizuka is in charge of the project
- Wii exclusive, with no idea to port it over at the moment.

Didn't Nintendo bough the rights to Sonic when Dreamcast got burned? If they did then it's just Nintendo merging their product line. I think I remember Nintendo bought tons of copyrights from Sega since Sega failed because they were too ahead of their time.

I believe that SEGA is a seperate company, but decided to concentrate solely on video games instead of entering anymore consoles.

Sega is an independent multi-platform developer. Sega and Nintendo just happen to team up for this particular title, like SNK and Capcom teaming up to do the SNK vs Capcom series for instance.

You obviously didn't stop to think before you said that. Sonic has appeared on all the platforms ever since the Dreamcast went down. If it was Nintendo's property, you wouldn't see Sonic games on PS2 and XBox. Or PSP, for that matter.
