Unless some fansub group decides to translate the last 4 episodes of the TV broadcast since it will be aired before the last BD volume is released.

Because it isn't on Crunchyroll or places like that the shows seems to not get much attention. Yet it still has a massive fan base in and outside Japan.

I believe some group is fansubbing the TV broadcasts...or encoding the BD subtitles onto the TV show since it is slightly different. So maybe someone will sub episodes 23-26 before the BD come out. I'll still buy it, but I have a desire to know sooner rather than later.

Very much so, I have all the blurays up to this point. I have been searching for any used movie limited editions in the used shops, but they are far and in-between.

It better be, because this nostalgic "remake" is an excellent masterpiece so far.
If they keep this up for the last volume, I wouldn't even mind waiting for it as long as the Gundam Unicorn OVA's, but fortunately the wait isn't that long at all.

Does anyone know the names of these two? I know the big guy was one of the pilots launching at the end of episode 19, but I can't remember if he (or the girl) appeared any time previously.

Not that I'm aware (with spoken lines), except he in Episode 19 — but the girl, not as far as I know — his name was Daikuhara.

The girl was running around in that outfit during episode 7. She's also seen on ship in episode 20 and 22 as part of the deck crew under Enomoto doing damage control. I think the wiki page call her Miyazawa Chizuru, voice by Honda Mariko.

The guy has probably be seen in the background during pilot briefings and such.

They both appeared in a couple of scenes but they played more important roles in episode 20. His name was Tsuyoshi Daikuhara and you can see him in pilot breefings and such scenes.

She hasn't been named yet but she appeared in episode 7 in that costume during the line crossing ceremony

And more proeminentely in episode 20 as one of Enomoto's staff on the 3rd bridge.

Since they seem to be making a lot of background characters distinctive, they can always being them forward later to take a role or heroic death while leaving the main cast alive. Also make it so the normal "heroes" aren't always the ones who save the day. The average people save the ship sometimes too.

Also lets them have faces to use in potental future series as veterans of Yamato witout having to do what they did in the original. Make up a backstory, "Yeah that guy? He was always there, you just didn't see him". This way they can bring someone to prominace later and go back and fans can point out, oh wait, he was there, see look.

I think that's the plan...since it is a group of fanboys writing this thing.

Spoiler for Some thoughts:: I am seeing animation drop a bit in the character design. The constancy is a little mixed with ultra high detail characters in some places and low in others. I see no drop in ship to ship and combat sequences. Simply spectacular in ep 20. It was hard to sympathize with Ito's death. He tries to redeem himself just a little even in the end after all the crap he has done. It was a bit out of left field, but overall not unexpected. Yurisha, Melda and Yamamoto are quite the trio as Shinji said. And also as Shinji mentioned, I kind of felt not even having Kodai acknowledge Yamamoto in passing does feel a bit contrived, even after all they fought together. (Potential Love Triangle Aside) Now awaiting my Yamato Material Settings Book, Earth side to arrive...

Spoiler for Episode 22: But they did just take more or less a month off to fix the ship and make friends with the rebels. They won't fight together as there seems to be issues between them going by Okita's log entry. But as long as Yamato's mission it to reach Iscandar, they won't have issues with Deitz. But I image Desler and others won't let them continue to Iscandar. At some point they will be forced to Gamilas. The plot just calls for it to happen. Even if it is only to rescue Yuki. Though it could be more to prevent Desler from firing his Desler Cannon at them. They would reason he wouldn't dare fire on his own planet with that thing. They can't be sure he won't fire on Iscandar. __________________

Spoiler for : I think Dessler and Yuki are in his ship, but it is still in the palace tower on Gamilas were we saw it earlier. Talon is on the Floating City. Perhaps with the larger part of the warship, or maybe the city has a version of the Dessler Cannon as well. Maybe a larger one which is why Talon is a little reluctant to use it at 80% or whatever. Could explain its range from one planetary orbit to another. Though we really don't have a known range limit for Yamato's Wave Motion Gun presently. We'll see in episode 23. __________________

But earlier, Yamamoto launched with full anti-fighter armaments. Look at the shot of the fighter launching the missiles at the torpedo bombers. It has an orange nose. That was Yamamoto firing her missiles. When Kodai docks he still had the drop tanks. __________________
