It's a thing yuri fans tend to do. Don't worry, it sometimes bothers me too to see a character being completely dismissed and hated just because they are seen as a threat to some perceived character relationship.

Male character is always welcome if his role doesn't involve a romantic relationship with a girl but when it is...PROBLEM HAPPEND!

I wonder what Yuka would think of a show like AKB0048. She's not interested in Gundam, but can fangirl the hell out of anything Four Seasons related. Now, allow me to propose. If Four Seasons, like AKB, got an anime based around them in universe... in a show that itself is made to promote a group... all we would need is Four Seasons being a fan of a musical group that gets an anime based around them and we would've effectively entered recursion territory, the gateway to infinity.

I would love to make that happen.

Rinko's constant visions of whales were very pretty and ethereal, kind of like whalesong themselves. I really like the magical atmosphere this show's setting up for itself, while pretty much being in our world. Plenty of YukaRin moments this week, too. They got rather intimate in her bedroom (in a healing sort of way, though that can lead to steamier things), and Rinko even went out of her way to pick up Yuka's poster.

There were a few frames where a good portion of Four Seasons' discography was shown. I'll have to grab that once the subs are out.

I was thinking the wishing rock wouldn't be used at all, but it came into play near the end of the episode... and then wasn't used at all. Just a lot of character building. Also, one of the background characters had dark skin and blonde hair. Her appearance intrigues me.

A very YukaRintastic week, I'm satisfied.

Next week: A Natsumi focuser. Also, tennis.

Epic start to the episode.

This week was quite entertaining like the previous ones. It was really sweet watching Yuka taking care of her waifu Rin when she came down with that cold

Not much to say here. This was a solid build-up episode which took a break from the magical antics of previous episodes to further establish the character relationships, as well as foreshadow the eventual feeling of loss they will have to face in the end. Quite well-placed after the hilarious episode 4, I say.

And as I predicted, there was a lot of good stuff in this episode for the yuri fans here. Eat your heart out, lesbo lovers.

I feel like adding something before moving on to episode 5.

The stone is apparently granting really heartfelt wishes. Notice how Yuka wanted to be rich, to not get fat, etc, and it doesn't come true. However, when she wishes to be Saki for the date, she gets it.

I feel like I'm spoiling the grand finale here, but I see it coming a mile away.

They all get together and wish for Saki to stay, voila. That is, of course, if they don't have a mayor falling out.

That seems too easy. Note, none of these wishes have quite been granted in the way people were expecting (except maybe for the "Yuka and Rin get stuck together" one). Wishing for Saki to stay seems... risky. And there will be hundreds of fans screaming about cop outs and fake happy endings and unrealism and such things.

Personally I want Saki to stay. I'm sappy, and I can't bear to see this sweet group of friends split up like that. But there will be (and are) lots of people saying that friends moving away is part of real life, and shouldn't be patched over with a "wow, a miracle happened, now she doesn't have to leave, yay everyone's happy!" kind of ending. Me, I think she should find some way to stay that doesn't involve magic. Something logical, doable within the real world. Then people are less likely to scream about how there's this real world problem whose consequences were just glossed over with magic, but rather can accept that Saki and friends faced the issues themselves, and overcame it fairly.

Before AKB0048 started, I would have said that he almost could not possibly have chosen a poster less related to the one Yuka went there for. I still say it's a stretch.

Anyway...

Episode 5 is sweet and happy.

So Rin sees flying whales whenever she gets sick? For most people it takes a pretty high fever before they start having hallucinations...

Friendship is awesome. I love seeing these girls together.

They keep foreshadowing sadness for when Saki has to leave. I don't want her to go. Although I hope that, if they end up having her stay, it's not because of a wish. Something like "Natsumi/Rinko/Yuka's family agreed to let you stay with them so you can finish going to school with the friends you've grown up with," or some other realistic solution to the issue, would seem much better than just getting the rock to solve everything for them.

Speaking of which, there weren't actually any wishes made this time. Kids got set up to make one, and then it turned out to be unnecessary. And then Yuka, of all people, says "I'm sure something crazy would have happened if you guys had wished for something."

Is it just me, or their appearances sounds like they're either the incarnations of the four main heroines, or just the main cast's older sisters.

My friend mentioned this anime to me a couple of days ago...and oh boy, I didn't regret it one bit Seems like this anime is light-hearted and full of yuri goodness, in which is really fits to my liking

It was a good move by them to not include any wishing magics in this episode, to show that the real theme of the show is about the friendship between the 4 friends, rather than the ability of the wishing stone.
