Weird Tenchi

I'm watching this weird Tenchi movie. Tenchi has long hair, there are two parallel worlds, and Ryoko has ost all her cool powers. Whats this movie called?

ironic...i'm watching this movie on International Channel as i'm typing this
it's Tenchi Forever, the 3rd movie that "wraps up" the entire Tenchi saga (even though the beginning and end are set, the middle is still open to an expanding library)
EDIT: actually from the scenes in the end credits, it wraps up the first TV series
the OVA is another story (literally)
and Ryoko didn't lose her powers...she just doesn't use them until the end

Yep, Tenchi Forever is the end of Tenchi TV, AKA Tenchi Universe.

Goes like this:

Tenchi Muyo! TV (Universe) --> Tenchi Muyo! in Love (Tenchi the Movie) --> Tenchi Muyo! in Love 2 (Tenchi Forever)

It's not that it's weird...it's just that it's different from the others...this one is more story driven and has less humor and action then the others...

*not sure if spoilers are needed given the movie is pretty old..but eh...

Spoiler for Tenchi Forever:

Someone want to do me a favour and spoil the movie plots? I've seen the rest of the three series, but never the movies.

I think I'm going to go order Tenchi Muyo GXP now, it has one kick ass ending theme. ^_^

Tenchi in Love - Kain breaks free from prison and goes back in time to kill Tenchi's mother as revenge cause the Jurai family was the family that helped the police capture him...and Tenchi along with everyone else goes back in time also with Washu's help to stop Kain...

Tenchi 2: Daughter of Darkness - Yuzuha (a creature that fell in love with Yosho back when he was still a kid) creates Mayuka and sends her to Tenchi, she claims she is Tenchi's Daughter...and while claiming to be his daughter Yuzuha is controling Mayuka and attemts to kidnap Tenchi and bring him into Yuzuha's dark world to try and get revenge for what Yosho did in the past...

Tenchi Forever - Yosho's old flame kidnaps Tenchi and brings him into her world in an attempt to create a new life for herself since she couldn't have it before (she died on the way to earth)

i'm a bit rusty with the details but this is the jist of it...

actually i'd debate when the 2nd movie took place, there's a lot of elements from the OVA and TV series (floating hot springs-OVA, Kiyone-TV)

I assure you though, it's TV continuity. If you go strictly by the creator of it and the plot elements.

I give you, the Tenchi Continuities list:

The "Masaki Kajishima OVA" continuity
Timeline in order of occurance (Not release):
1. Shin(True) Tenchi Muyo!: Jurai (Novel)
2. Shin(True) Tenchi Muyo!: Yosho (Novel)
3. Shin(True) Tenchi Muyo!: Washu (Novel)
4. Tenchi Muyo! OVA 1 (Episodes 1-6)
5. Tenchi Muyo! OVA Episode 7
6. Tenchi Muyo! Episode 7.5 (Game for the Japanese PC-Engine CD Game System. Yes, it IS officially part of this continuity.)
7. Tenchi Muyo! OVA 2 (Episodes 8-13, "13.5" (After end credits of ep 13))
8. Tenchi Muyo! OVA 3 (Episodes 14-16 so far, will probably end up being 14-19, with a special between episodes 3 and 4, and a special 20th episode containing what's referred to as "The Surprise Ending" by Kajishima)
9. Tenchi Muyo! GXP

The "Naoko Hasegawa OVA" Continuity
1. Same as Masaki Kajishima's OVA continuity items 1-6, then...
2. Tenchi Muyo!: Galaxy Police Mihoshi's Space Adventure
3. Naoko Hasegawa's numerous Tenchi novels
4. Tenchi Muyo!: Midsummer's Eve (Movie 2: Daughter of Darkness)
5. Tenchi Muyo!: Midsummer's Carnival (CD Drama sequel to Movie 2)
4. More novels. I believe Movie 2 happens between novels 12 and 13.

The "TV Series" continuity
1. Tenchi Muyo! TV (Tenchi Universe)
2. Tenchi Muyo! in Love (Tenchi the Movie)
3. Tenchi Muyo! in Love 2: Distant Memories (Tenchi Forever)

The "Shin TV Series" continuity
1. Shin(New) Tenchi Muyo! (Tenchi in Tokyo)

The "Pretty Sammy OVA" Continuity
1. Pretty Sammy OVA Episodes 1-3

The "Pretty Sammy TV" Continuity
1. Pretty Sammy TV (Magical Project S) Episodes 1-26

The "Hitoshi Okuda OVA/Manga" Continuity
1. Same as the Masaki Kajishima OVA continuity items 1-4, then...
2. Tenchi Muyo! (Manga)
3. Shin(New) Tenchi Muyo! (Manga) (Not related to Tenchi in Tokyo, just named the same. It's just a continuation of the original manga, which was supposed to end, but there was such an outcry from the fans for more manga, that Okuda made another series.)

I hope this gets everything out in the open and makes everything clear.

BTW, Shiznitty, Tenchi GXP is a great show. It's OVA continuity, 26 episodes long, and now available on Domestic DVD. THe first volume is out now, and can come with a collector's box for the rest of the volumes. It also comes with a crappy desk calendar that pretty much sucks except for the art and the fact that it has all the future release dates on it. Here's the GXP release calendar:

Volume 2: "Academy Life" - April 20th (I can't wait! )
Volume 3: "Captain Seina Yamada" - June 1st
Volume 4: "New Illusions" - July 13th
Volume 5: "The Living Ship" - August 24th
Volume 6: "Seiryo Stikes Back!" - October 5th
Volume 7: "The Great Daluma" - November 16th (I wonder if they mean "Daruma"...)
Volume 8: "Past, Present, and Future" - December 28th

Anyway, that's all. Later

correction

Very Good timeline,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, BUT I believe that GXP is supposed to be between the 2nd and 3rd OVAs; not after OVA 3
