It's only the first episode and the animation is already painfully mediocre. As expected of Toei. I just pray it's not going to end up being as bad as Sailor Moon Crystal.
Plot-wise, familiar plotline but with lots of mysteries in this first episode. It's starting out well.

I've not been a major follower of Saint Seiya (watched some of the original series and read bits and pieces of various manga stories a long time ago so I barely remember anything) but I'm down for old school shounen. First ep got my interest so I'm following this.

Well, first I saw a lot of yellow, but the colors were dull. I was expecting to see shiny armor. Then I soon found out why. They wanted to wait until he had the power-up in his armor, and then it was shiny... for a few seconds.
I'm guessing they are holding back the reason for the revival for later episodes for the big reveal. It's Saint Seiya, and it's following along the original story line, sort of, so this should be interesting.

I notice some thing from episode 1 english sub all New God warriors so cheater all they power came from yggdrasil tree of Odin so they had power equal to god that why Gold Saints lose.
only to beat cheater New God warriors it's God Cloth that why leo Cloth turn into God Cloth order to beat God Warrior Gullinbursti Frodi. |

Also last page of chapter 41, Ikki says out right that Gemini is the strongest of the twelve. Whatever the author says is the almighty truth. |

And then you have Sagittarius saints, note that just the residual Cosmo on Sagittarius gold cloth was enough to take on Aioria's Lighting Plasma, catch it and throw it back at his owner who is a living saint with his full power. |

As far as I know, Saga and Aiorios were equal in power on their prime. Fully powered Aioria was no match for the fully powered Saga. After all Saga countered the Plasma and the Scarlet needle after receiving the Treasure of Shaka, with 4 senses out and totally battered.
But, meh I guess. |

My take on who is the strongest is Shaka. At least according to Episode.G, Shaka is the only Saint who mastered the techniques involving Supernova (Photon Burst, Galaxian Explosion)
However, I remember reading an old interview with Kurumada who said he had no idea who was the strongest Gold Saint. Nevertheless, he guessed it could be Shaka.

I go by what I saw and that was Shaka manhandling Saga, Shura, and Camus. Though that doesn't necessarily mean Virgo as always the strong, just that Shaka was the strongest in this generation.
However, if we were to open it up to everything (cannon + all the spin-offs) then the answer become a lot easier: Sagittarius Seiya lol |

Shaka manhandled Shura and Camus. Saga did Another Dimension and Shaka had a nice scared face right there. However Shaka´s technique was superior and kicked their 3 royal asses no question about it. But after all that, Saga still showed Aioria that his plasma was puny and made Milo shit his gold pants.
I mean, I really really wanna see Saga in Divine Gold Cloth turning Asgard into a parking lot. |

I always took it as Shaka and Saga more or less on the same level, but Shaka always had this whole "superior being" thing. Then, the rest.
Although it's also true that (an incapacitated) Ikki managed to resist Shaka but couldn't do anything against Saga and ended up vaporized. So there's that. Speaking of which, i'd like to know if a new viewer, unfamiliar with the franchise, will be able to keep up with this series, let alone have the interest to do so. I can see it being completely unappealing, not to say inaccessible (it's not like they're trying to be otherwise, anyway). Compared to Lost Canvas, Omega and the cgi movie, it's the first time a new SS is so prohibitive, unless we're counting Overture (and we know how that went, despite being a very interesting movie IMO). My friend who only heard about SS watched the first episode of SoG and said it’s pretty enjoyable and easy to follow so far. Though some complaints that he has is the below-average animation (Sasuga Toei) and a lame technique (Frodi’s remote sword. Though I rather blame it on the lackluster animation than the technique itself) kinda hurts the episode and prevent it from being truly exciting. He’s also well-versed in shounen series and IMO his most notable comment about episode 1 is “What?? A power-up in the very first episode? And that easy? Really???” when he saw Aiolia came up with his God Cloth . He does like the mystery of how the dead MC (Aiolia) is brought back to life and that’s the hook that made him want to see more. So yeah, for him, episode 1 of SoG is so-so but enjoyable enough.
