Lol, the threat letters.

Even though the episode featured hostage and kidnapping, it was much more sillier than I had thought mostly because of this show's gimmicks. Funny how Haku always seems to get caught into this type of drama. Action was surprisingly fluid even though it was brief.

Wasn't able to watch the second half. The princess is just annoying and I need a plot. I'll return to this series when is done.

This is one time I'm voting based on the descriptions. This episode was physically painful to get through. I mean....my god this was bad. I'm sure this was supposed to be a funny episode for the most part....but it was just stupid.

Honestly I wouldn't blame a single soldier that got dragged along into this farce to plain quit and move to another country. The idea that this girl is the heir to a powerful nation is actually horrifying.

Thank god things got even a little bit serious for a moment there. Props to Haku for not instantly getting killed. Actually has improved a bit.

The end of the episode had some value to it and praise be that there was some kind of character development for Anju. But doesn't change that this was just painful.

Yeah not much substance, but I got a good laugh or two. And it was good to see Anju finally realize the weight of her existence and how much her decisions can effect other people, so she appreciates the responsibilities that come with her power. My favorite spot though was when Rurutie started raving about the two men clashing in front of her, then suddenly we switch to some old man eating something then throwing it aside saying "this one's rotten." Nice acknowledgment of the girl's one major flaw.

Man, has this series really squandered that much? Like around the first 6 episodes were pretty promising, but now it it has devolved into mindless fluff.

Meh. It'll be fine as long as the immortal emperor still refrains from dying for a few decades at least. And Anju may have her faults, but she isn't cruel. Or possessed of a desire to meddle in the affairs of state, and thus mess them up with her incompetence.

This is a bit befuddling that Anju is the only princess we know of. The emperor has live for centuries, and after all this time, he produced only one heir? Also, who is the empress?

Well, it was a funny episode, especially the intentional bad acting done. The 2 biggest laughs I got was when it was a rain of arrows and when the soldiers decided to buy some soup to eat as well.

There was some slight plot progression, as Haku has become better combat-wise, and he has been appointed to be in charge of those "bandits". Anju also has learned a valuable lesson, and she has also gotten a little closer to our main casts.

As far as pacing goes, we're 11 episodes in, and I'm not even sure we've finished one arc of the story yet. As entertaining as this is, I'm getting very impatient at this point. Yes, if they announced 50 episodes, then I wouldn't really mind this pacing. Well, I'll enjoy it for what it is because I do love the characters.

In a supposed more serious event they make it nearly all silly. This is an episode that is supposed to make Anju realize the weight of her actions and having Haku taking care of the mess to show the result of his growth. Although the most important point of this episode is preserved, this is not right. With nearly everyone not taking things serious all the jokes fell flat - you need to have seriousness to get jokes working. The reflection of Anju's action toward Kuon and Atui is also absent, which is supposed to be important characterization of Kuon.

The aftermath of Nosuri and Ougi should have been taken much more seriously. Even they are running out of time this is not how it should be done. It seems all the darker parts are "cleaned" out of the plot as if there's some sort of censorship. I'm upset.

Haku's fight with Oshutoru and Oshutoru's action toward Anju are really good, but that's pretty much all of what is done well.

Awful episode, the director couldn't write comedic scenes for shit what's with the cringy act.

I wonder under what excuse the Emperor would give the twins to Haku now that he's robbed the credit for saving Anju.

All the shenanigans involving Anju & Nosuri are indeed painful to watch. But I did find the comedy bits with Ougi throwing all those arrows to Oshu chuckle-worth funny. Oh, and I think the part where the soldiers didn’t give two-shits during Anju & Nosuri’s obvious “play” and just went out of their way to eat ramen is comedy gold coz that’s precisely how I felt watching those two at the time. In fact, I think all the comedy involving ramen (and the Munechika bit) works for me. And the tense action bit with Haku & Oshu and Anju realizing her role as a princess are also a good stuff. Due to all that, I think this episode is a bit better compared to the previous two with Kamyu & Aruruu and teaching Anju about love.

Still a below-average episode for me though and I will vote as such.

I personally thought it was more amusing than last episode. Was laughing through the first half like crazy, then I liked the second half in that the princess finally got some piece of the humble pie. Way more satisfying than last episode which was merely a setup for this one.

Well...for me one big point of the ep was exactly to make the audience facepalm and cringe, and the hunor was to support that. In that sense it was quite effective.

Other than that, well...I gave the ep a 5 out of 10. Poor Oshutoru was the only person acting normally in this ep, and frankly I sorta felt Haku had it coming to him. There is a limit to just letting yourself get stampeded like that, and even if he may not like it he has to be more actively responsible at times, especially with the princess of an entire empire.

Will be interesting if this ep's contents is used to undermine the government...would be kinda hard to argue one's way out of it.

I already lowered my expectation but this is bad. Its hard to watched that I ended up fast forward most of the scenes. Poor guy. He was forced to act because they are persistent enough to push his button. The whole kidnapping fiasco is annoying. Even if anju learned something in the end. Its still annoying. Next episode is about the twins with questionable gender.

Am I the only person here who thought this episode was a hilarious and entertaining piece of (deliberate) farce? Don't get me wrong -I've been wanting this show to get a sense of direction for weeks now. But I found this episode highly entertaining, and it had some serious character development for Anju to boot. I think it's probably the best episode the series has had since Karura and Touka showed up in Episode Six.

Now Episode Seven -that was a pretty awful episode.

I was amused by the hail of arrows on the desk, but much more amused when the soldiers got tired of the shenanigans and drifted off for some ramen.

Though the 'fight' between Oshutoru and Haku was quite good, I thought. Hopefully the sparring will help Haku fight should the show turn more serious, which I'd hope it does in the second part, having now added the two rogues to the gang.

I think they're just biding their time to try and increase anticipation. They must want to hold out until someone shows up at their door frothing at the mouth yelling "DO SOMETHING YOU DOLTS!!!" first. Kind of surprising no one's done it yet to be completely honest. This material is funny and entertaining, but yeah I imagine there's a lot of fans out there that want the show to pick up the pace a bit. Right now this honestly feels closer to Is The Order A Rabbit than Utawarerumono. And frankly the character set, while cute and entertaining, couldn't pull that style off even if the writers did know how to write jokes as well as that.
