Remember, the mangaka of the Sailor Moon manga is married to the mangaka of Hunter X Hunter.

I'm not a big fan of the visual portrayal of the outer senshi being completely alone in there existences when some material has at least the inner senshi coming from planets that have subjects, kind of like satellite nations of the Moon Kingdom. I find it more interesting when they're more than just solitary warriors.

The outer are strictly guards. Uranus and Neptune guard against that's form the outside.Pluto guards against threats to time and Saturn, well if she shows up things are screwed. The inner have the job of guarding from internal threats unlike the others by their job they had to mix amongst the subjects.

Right, I get that. I'm saying that, to me, there's ambiguity in the various source materials/mediums over whether the only two places where there are people during the time of the Moon Kingdom are the Moon and Earth or whether there exist satellite "nations" on the various planets. To me, the existence of such things as "Miranda Castle" (for Uranus, as an outer example) and "Magellan Castle" (for Venus, as an inner example), says to me that there are satellite nations. At the very least, Venus had subjects, because Adonis was said to be a solider in her army, where I take "her army" to mean a Venusian army, not part of the Moon Kingdom's army.

I like to think the outers were not entirely alone, so the portrayals where they are entirely alone leave me unsatisfied.

I always thought the creater goofed when naming Sailor Saturn and Pluto, it should almost be switched. Especially given their powers, in myth, Saturn = Kronos, who controlled time. and Pluto = Hades lord of the underworld/death.

A beautiful friendship between Hotaru and Chibiusa ;_;

Glad they got rid of the monster that took over Hotaru's body....

I am once again (after the first Crystal) questioning why anyone wanted the manga "faithfully" adapted. The first 6 episodes of S3 lulled me into a false sense of security, but this crap is just so poorly written and poorly executed (lolart). So much unnecessary monologuing, as well as expressing feelings and actions in words (gotta save the budget they don't have). And let's not even start on the "it's NOT RIGHT but it's OKAY" statement in regards to Hotaru's and Chibiusa's relationship...

I'll be defending the first anime any flippin day. (Spoilers for Sailor Moon S.)

Well, the manga wasn't perfect. I don't think there's a question about that.

But following the manga at least gives us a different animated series than we got back in the 90s. It's not merely a remastering.

If I had a nickle for every time Moon shouts "meena!" (everyone) I'd have enough money to buy a nice chicken shwarma for lunch everyday of this week.

What about how many times the time has come? Surely it should have finally arrived by now

I like this season, and Hotaru is a major reason. So far Hotaru's portrayal has been fantastic. I don't remember how the manga goes in this part, but I hope Sailor Saturn plays a big role. I do miss Hotaru's theme from the original series though. It was one of my favourite BGMs of this arc, along with Vanessa Mae's instrumentals for Michiru and Haruka's scenes.

I'd say she does.

Funny you should bring up that scene in particular, being that, as a reader of the manga, I consider that moment to be possibly the single most disappointing scene in the entire old anime. Why? Because Sailor Saturn's debut in the manga was the coolest fucking thing ever.

And on that note, Crystal just adapted that part. Did it live up to my expectations, and by extension justify this entire season seeing how I'd literally been waiting for this moment since before Crystal began?
Spoiler for The answer is...:

I'm happy for you and I guess I can understand why (that henshin spinning part was probably the best Crystal offered). As for me - it was still stretched out to the limits (and I really just don't care at this point) but at least it looked much prettier than the last 3 or 4 episodes (although it does throw in a few derp shots to not disappoint) and I'm happy it's almost over.

PS. Amused that Crystal could animate 2d goop flowing over a city but ufotable couldn't bother in their Fate.

My most anticipated moment finally arrived! Sailor Saturn's entrance was portrayed gloriously like how it should be. And really Death Reborn Revolution is so stunning and chilling.
